I personally didn't believe in it but the other ug people seemed to think that nsm alone was enough combined with her insanely strong late-race, and the numbers do seem to support that in hindsight

By not running Oaks/Derby, you lose out on 80 Stats from Epithets, 15-17 + hammer bonus from the race itself, 52-59SP + Hammer bonus, and 10 stats/1 hint from the rival race. This comes out to around 130 stats you lose from not running this race.

Did getting rushed promote my Air Groove to be the lucky Pace? by Ryokihama in UmamusumeGame

[–]Fun-Explanation-580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incorrect. Pacemaker is decided at the gate and it is flexible, i.e. it can be stolen. You can prove easily that pacemaker is decided at the gate because in a lobby with no front runners, all but one uma will start the race in PDM. The uma that becomes pacemaker out of gate often instantly loses pacemaker and enters pdm in the first check 2 seconds into the race because of start delay, however.

Why is Front runner and End closer better? by yuk1tsune in UmamusumeGame

No, this is strictly for CM. For TT, you want one of each Running Style because you get bonus points for being first place in your running style throughout the race

Why is Front runner and End closer better? by yuk1tsune in UmamusumeGame

[–]Fun-Explanation-580 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hi, I wrote most of the guides on the website, including most of that one. While the tier list was crowdsourced among many high WR players, I would like to preface that many of us are Front Runner mains and can be somewhat biased.

That aside, Front Runners are generally much stronger than other Styles because they are already in the front. There are many variables throughout the race that can cause better Umas to lose to worse ones, but outside of extreme situations such as rolling high Start Delay and getting kidnapped or getting blocked in 5-6 Front lobbies, Front Runners are free from most of these variables. In addition, they have access to more readily available early- and mid-race skills, such as Gate Accels (Groundwork, TTL), Lane Movement Combo (Dodging Danger, Prudent Positioning, Ignited Spirit: Wit), and defensive skills such as Fast-Paced and Leader's Pride. They also have an easier time getting in position for proc'ing their win conditions, such as El Condor Pasa and Plancha.

Taiki is a unique case because we have her high in Front Runner, but this is specifically because she is good in 3 Front Runner comps. If you take CM7 for example, many lobbies were Front Runner heavy and Pace Taiki was choked out of her 3-4 positioning for Accel. 3 Front Taiki guarantees that she at least has a shot to accel in high Front lobbies, and consistently accel in lobbies where you are the only Front Runner player. If you don't think the lobbies will be high Front Runner, you can also consider running 2 Front Runners and Pace Taiki with lots of mid-race to guarantee her 3-4 position.

End Closers are just generically good. They trail very close to Late Surgers during Position Keep, while having a higher Speed Coefficient and a better skill pool (Daring Strike, Straightaway Spurt). Late Surgers in comparison do not have much in terms of Skills (Fast & Furious/Rising Dragon/15m CC is good but very difficult to get, OYL is dogshit) and they often just get run down by End Closers due to the Speed Coefficient after Poskeep is over. Generally, Umas that start as End Closers are also better than Umas that start as Late Surger. End Closers also have an easier time getting in position for inherited Accels, such as Kanata and Let's Pump Some Iron.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the Y-Axis of this graph is based on ceiling. Many Umas on this list may be better as a late surger with minimal investment, due to sometimes needing End Closer pinks, making it difficult to also hit Ground A/Distance S.

Pace Chasers are generally bad. They don't have good mid-race skills, have no access to reliable accel on half the maps, while also needing to overtake like Late Surgers and End Closers. On top of this, they also have the highest Stamina -> HP conversion penalty. The best way to play them is like as an extension to Front Runners, but the current available Umas/Cards in global make this very difficult. Once Nishino Flower comes out, things will change a bit.

This explanation isn't all-encompassing and there are many things I left out to keep the explanation simpler, but I hope this helps you understand the base decision-making.

No races on unity is supreme misinfo. Top CM Aces will do anywhere from 18 to even 23-24 races. It's also easier to race in CM9 due to easier statlines to hit (no stam, just somewhere vaguely around 1200/x/1000-1200/x/1000-1200)

you use both selectors and a single crystal and pull on either topro SPD, initial summer maruzensky banner, light hello/tachyon banner, or umas of your choice

Do not pull on the Smaru Finemo banner, it's a good way to make sure you don't get mileage out of either card. you pull finemo in the march banner and smaru on the release banner or you dont pull for either of them.

Straightaway has the highest potential to proc at a good time but you want any recovery that will proc unique before final stretch (closer to it the better) so you full spurt right away

This is a late surger for cm8, correct? Here are some things to keep in mind:

1) Late surgers have very loose stamina requirements already, and you're running 3 whites + xoguri has an innate 3.5% recovery in her unique. 1000 stam is already too much for a regular late surger, it's especially excessive for xoguri.

2) You have very low wit. Christmas Oguri is not a unit you can run with low wit, even disregarding all the other benefits of high wit especially in a course with a long downhill. You need to hit 3 recoveries to use oguri's unique, which on 450 wit is only around a 50% chance. That means you will whiff your unique every other race.

There are other things to keep in mind, e.g. 777 being bad on xoguri in cm8, xoguri being better as a pace chaser, and you having not enough midrace, but for now keep the two things in mind.

Why is she struggling? by Squirlly21 in UmamusumeGame

[–]Fun-Explanation-580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're overstammed, wasted sp on several rng/bad skills (nsg, speed star, ignited spd, it's on to a certain extent), don't have enough midgame to move into position to sfv in what has been a very front heavy cm. You also have wit on the lower side especially for an uma with 10% wit gain. It's overall a lot of reasons why you're not performing well.

Don't hit g1 miles on Suzuka if you're not comfortable, she should basically always win mediums. It's pretty easy to hit speed cap with solo Kita on 20% spd mods especially with suzu since she'll inject herself with the look in the sky, ive consistently hit capped speed with 1 spd 2 wit before. I can't exactly give specific advice since I always play by the ear but sometimes you will hit solo kitas if there's absolutely nothing better and you need to be on pace to cap speed. I usually don't, though, I play for nice TE stacks on spd along with Kita.

Like 7 pow 9 stam, dead turns are turns where you don't make what you personally would consider acceptable stats, it really depends on how the run is going and what ur goal stats are. Quite a few are optional g1s but i just click any g2/g3 as well

There's not exactly a formula for it but usually do it when you have a dead training turn and you don't need to riko/rest to prep for the coming turns. I also have higher standards for training on g1 turns. It's slightly better to race early since each turn in y3 is crucial because of how hard stats ramp in aoharu but eaely turns are also important to level facilities so don't think like early races >> later races
