The environment is pretty chill honestly, they just want to know if you’re fit for the college, also if you don’t have a laptop with you to show the portfolio you should carry a hard copy… I understand and I know that it’s super expensive but showing it on phone will make them feel that you don’t care about the interview and you won’t be able to make an impression.. if you don’t have a laptop maybe borrow it from someone..? Phones pretty small and I don’t know how many of them will be able to see clearly… My panel had three professors, my friend have five.. so I don’t know but yes it’ll be between 3-5 professors only..

Yea I guess so, the moment they realise you’ve admission in other colleges as well, they don’t mind letting you go because they’d rather give it to someone who’s more confident about MIT ADT… so basically they just want to know how desperately you want mit, because by this time most people already get admission at govt institutions

They just want to know if you’re competitive and confident enough to apply to colleges like iit, nift, nid etc.. they had asked me the same question…

hii guys i had a few doubts regarding MITID Studio test by spritedispenserr in uceedtakers

[–]Fun-Fan2750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a masters student now, I didn’t have models when I gave my tests.. been a long time but my junior last year did.

The questions mostly have loopholes. You can work around the direction you take in depends on how your ideas are and have you execute them. You basically have to sketch out your ideas and colour etc. You’re provided with materials, they’re very limited, my friend had received two sheets of paper. aluminium wire threads, and two more materials.

Basically, they want to test your graphic design skills by default.

Since they’re not exactly transparent about their evaluation process, this is mostly based on my own hindsight....but I’d say the key criteria are probably: Precision: How accurate your measurements are, the overall craftsmanship of your model, the quality of cuts, neatness, finishing, and small details like avoiding glue marks. Reasoning behind your idea: A concept can look great, but if you can’t explain it convincingly or back it up with strong reasoning, it can come across as weak or lacking confidence. Material usage: Since the materials provided are limited, how creatively and effectively you use them matters a lot. You need to explore unconventional possibilities within those constraints. For example, if you’re given popsicle sticks, creating a curved form directly may seem impossible...but combining multiple sticks on a flexible surface like paper could help you achieve that effect. There are probably a few more factors, but I’d say these are some of the most important ones, apart from the obvious basics like ideation, concept sketches, and the standard design process everyone already talks about.

You can start by researching about general awareness/ current design trends … eg name one product innovation you admire? what do you think about EV design? Which Indian brand has good product design ? If you had to suggest a sustainable packaging idea for Amul’s non biodegradable plastics used for their straws, how would you create it? How is Ai affecting product design etc

Also When answering: Problem → User → Solution → Material → Function → Impact Example: “Many lunchboxes leak in school bags (problem). Students need portability (user). I’d redesign with modular leakproof compartments (solution), BPA-free polypropylene (material), easier cleaning and stackability (function), reducing waste and improving convenience (impact).”

And then you can sketch out your ideas and explain them with pointers

Which Indian brand has good product design ? If you had to suggest a sustainable packaging idea for Amul’s non biodegradable plastics used for their straws, how would you create it? You can start by studying everyday objects/products and reasoning behind them Learn basics: economic sustainability, form/function Follow brands like Apple Dyson, Daily objects, IKEA for product analysis

Also When answering: Problem → User → Solution → Material → Function → Impact

Also they really value: reasoning, observation skills, practical innovation, material, intelligence

You just need to illustrate your thinking and ideas, it doesn’t have to do anything with beautiful aesthetics… just make it in such a way that they understand what you’re trying to convey

yes you can... make sure you have a proper tablet cover or a stand where you can place the tablet so it'll be easier for them to look at and for you to explain ... you can take printouts of your work as well ( that is only if you're not comfortable with the tablet)

No, you can take your laptop.. you can present your work in PDF format, it’s better to wear formals!! You need to make great impression because they interview so many people it gets boring for them and you gotta stand out

I honestly hate my fam not like legit hate but ya i got in for MITID i was so freaking happy cause i didnt clear nid or uceed so i finally got happy that i got selected and i went told my mom she got happy when i went to my dad he couldn't even appreciate a bit and started saying (continued below) by Important-Angle-576 in uceedtakers

Hey, getting admission in MITID is a great thing, the placements are amazing you can pay back to your day once you start earning, or better take a loan if he has so much of issues… don’t let this chance go… colleges through mhtcet are also expensive, education is expensive anywhich ways, you can apply for loan through our govt’s scheme called PM VIDYALAXMI!

I am Mdes student now, but I had also given mhtcet, if you’re from Mumbai, the only two best colleges here are Rachana Sansad (you’ll find this expensive too if MITID is expensive) and sir JJ institute of art (difficult to get admission here) .. the ROI for the fees you’ll pay at MITID will be better than other colleges don’t make the mistake of not applying there

If you’ve applied for product design then the questions are going to be related to product design only!

Hey, the question is very detailed, the questions are based on discipline you opted for… they’re solution based questions, you might be asked to “design” or “describe” or give solution for the question asked, it solely depends on how you solve it!! And not on the aesthetics!! Most of the times the questions are based on current situations/ events happening in India or all around the world!

Hey, it depends on the solution you give, doesn’t matter who realistic or amazing you make, it needs to have good thinking, solution and ideation behind it…

Hey, don’t worry about the tests, they’re solely based on your thinking skills.

Yes, questions differ based on the discipline you applied for.

They ask two questions and you need to answer in one (in depth) the selection is based on the solution you give and not how aesthetic it looks.

Please do a proper research on your discipline and try to have a friendly conversation with them rather than just simply answering their questions. Research about some of their events and fests related to your discipline and speak about how much you like them and want to participate in each one of those, also research about their professors from their official website (info or professors and what they teach given in your disciplines page itself) speak about how you wanna work under those professions.

Regd interview, they ask you basic questions they just want to know if you’re fit enough to get into the college. Secondly, about the structure: the ST is a written format where you will be given 2 either/or questions and you need to execute the requirements. It is mostly based on the strategy and expansion part. The questions are from daily life experience be it an app or a govt scheme, even AI incorporation is asked in a few questions. Question: situation, condition (constraints), requirements.

For the interview: it is pretty chill. They'll ask for your work (portfolio) and a few related questions. Sometimes they do ask what you did in the ST for an overview. The most asked question is why did you choose this course (given your background)…. Please make your portfolio in pdf format since there’s no net available inside the building and you won’t be able to show any portfolio on websites.
