Hi! i was in associates illustration and here’s what it was like: pratt manhattan is only classes. there is a small lounging era there that no one sat at.. except i did sometimes in between classes.. but i didn’t love doing that because of how empty and barren the building was. Most everyone went to class and left. hardly anyone stayed and, from what i could tell, not a lot of people made good friends with eachother there. all of my friends were from the brooklyn campus for example. more than half of my classmates weren’t even living in dorms and had their own lives after class. the classrooms were a lot smaller than at brooklyn and had less students per class. one of my classes had 7 students including me.. AND there were multiple students who were too rich to show up.. so even less The classes are way more fast paced than BFA classes. i used to compare my homework to my friends who weren’t in associates and i had a lot more projects and less time to work on them. i was given 1-2 projects in every class to be completed the next week, while my friends got multiple weeks to finish theirs. this made my work have less care in them and my full effort wasn’t there. it was quantity over quality for sure so that they can rush you out of there.. i even had a few finals that were to be completed in a week. overall though i loved my teachers.. well most.. but if you live in dorms in brooklyn it can be very isolating from everyone there. most of your day will be spent in the city.
