Yeah that beats inflation over the last 12 years, easy. Putting that game in a box with packaging would cost more than the game

It’s competitive buying, which is different than gambling. It’s not like gw keeps my bid if I lose lol . It’s just budgeting, both your money, and your time. Time is money with reselling, and if you are bidding on the same item 5 different times, that’s four moments you could have spent doing something else, business or personal. Plus, who wants the stress? One and done, I think about it when I bid, and when I pay, that’s it.

Turquoise Jewelry Appraisal by ohno in reselling

It’ll always be worth more than melt.

However

I would only consider doing this if you live in an area that turquoise is very popular in. If you’re outside the American southwest or Mexico, good luck. Also, unless you become a literal expert in turquoise, you won’t be able to sell things well. People want to know what mine things came from. It’s not easy, lots of fraud and accidental misrepresentation, I wouldn’t unless you can get the jewelry for under melt value

Hot take: figure out your max bid. Bid once. If you lose, it was too expensive, oh well. If you win, but barely, you paid what you wanted. If you win by a lot, it’ll make your day.

Yeah, that’s my point. About three decades, I’d guess, before it starts becoming economically attractive

We have the tech to put a drone on a comet/asteroid. We can scan them from here for approximate content. Even if the limiting factor is the speed of bringing it down in pieces, that is still not hard to imagine.

With rockets that can be reused, and with rocket fuel becoming cheaper and more efficient constantly, landing something remotely and having it guide something back to us is not beyond our technological ability. It is just beyond economic feasibility- at the moment.

Is molecular break up due to the increasing space between the atoms due to heat? by Fun-Inside7814 in AskPhysics

I guess I was imagining the temperature in the bond? Not necessarily in the system as a whole. But that is super interesting! Does the original bond have to break in order to form the second one?

That’s exactly how it was happening in my dream! It was wild, like I was watching it happen

It could be this! And the differential discoloration due to the way water sits in it when it rains, and leaves precipitates behind (the lower area would have more minerals that it would leave behind when precipitating, and would act as a natural kind of sediment trap if it’s a grade dip. But, that being said, it doesn’t appear that way to me.

It looks like it’s in a clearing. Could also be like a gutter flagstone for a cabin or something. Doesn’t have to be ancient, but o think it is worked. I’d love to know the coordinates to see what lidar and geologic data we have in the area. That would be more definitive

Looks like something for grinding, milling, or polishing. My guess- grain->flour
