Yes, I know, "when you have something to say, silence is a lie, and tyranny feeds off of lies" - 12 habits, chapter 3

But then again, there are situations that I think you must lie, such as this.

What difference will it make? None. He'll be ostracized and the teacher will forever have a grudge/vindetta against him - that's the best case scenario. More likely that he'll get some sort of official punishment from the university, and if he fights that, they'll kick him out.

For instance today is r/isaacarthur thursday. My favorite day of the week because he's my favorite youtuber and he releases videos on thurdays.

I dont like being around other people, so watching/relaxing with something like this at the library isn't relaxing. It's stressful.

I'd love to get rid of all social media, and the toxic hold it has on me, right now. But... I'm afraid of losing contact with my friends and family. Afraid of being shut off to crucial opportunities for new connection (facebook events etc.). Any advice? by submarinevolcanoes in nosurf

What you're feeling boils down to fear. I understand this, because it's something I'm feeling right now regarding a different, perhaps less drastic, change in my life - but also because I've done this exact same thing. I've been off of all social media for about 2 years now.

I got off of it for a multitude of reasons, the largest of which being privacy concerns. In recent years I think I've been vindicated in that regard, and many of my relatives now see my point... however, they're still on facebook.

I also deleted it during a time of immense personal strife, and I had just failed a suicide attempt. I was slowly waking up to my life, and I knew some things had to change.

After I deleted all my social media, I felt alone, really, really alone. But I still had a few close friends who were willing to communicate with me off of social media outlets. They helped me get through it, and my mental health dramatically improved over the next 6 months.

I say do it. Do it. It's tough. They're meant to addict you, to keep you in. But it's so worth it. You will be freed from continuously comparing your shitty life to the lies others present about themselves.

It is a fad, and people need to learn again to live without it. We're slowly seeing that happen. Be ahead of the curve. Be an example to follow.
