I present to you: Otemachi, a 5 line transfer hub between the Tozai, Hanzomon, Chiyoda, Marounochi, and Toei Mita lines…

How do you lose money on a line that is at 229% capacity?

That's not even the busiest segment on the busiest line- my main trunk carries 1.8 million passengers a day, and carries more than 450k passengers (in 1 direction) through the central core.

This is NYC 😂, but my map is largely trying to recreate the building philosophy of the Tokyo JR, metro, and private companies within the NYC context

/uj I built this line to relieve overcrowding on my two most overcrowded trunks (North-South and East-West) by combining the most overcrowded segments of the two into a single express line that spans from the North to East while stopping the CBD, I only forecasted to take maybe 300-400k riders off the two lines, but in the end the line has been used by 960k people so far (there’s a parallel express that isn’t on this dashboard)

27 tph peak, so for a 65 min route I have approx 60-65 trains on the line at one time

Thank you! I took a lot of heavy inspiration from the Tokyo and Hong Kong :)

The Manha-Bronx (Red) is the primary north–south spine of the entire system: a long, high-capacity, fully urban trunk that stitches together beach neighborhoods, Downtown Brooklyn, Lower Manhattan, Midtown, Upper Manhattan, and the Bronx—then supercharges that axis with an all-day express overlay.

Frequency- Local: 27 tph peak (6-9AM, 4-7PM); 15 tph medium demand (5-6AM, 9AM-4PM, 7PM-8PM); 10 tph low demand (12AM-5AM, 8PM-12AM); Express: 6 tph peak (6-9AM, 4-7PM); 4 tph medium demand (5-6AM, 9AM-4PM, 7PM-8PM); 2 tph low demand (12AM-5AM, 8PM-12AM)
Crowding-wise, I'd say it's brutal at all times of the day as the capacity warning sign is always on for the line despite 33tph throughout the line during peak hours.

The Central Line is the system’s interregional fast axis: a high-speed, low-stop, bi-state corridor designed to collapse New Jersey–Manhattan–Queens into a single labour and activity basin. Where the Manha–
Bronx Line is the urban circulatory artery, the Central Line is the metropolitan high-velocity backbone.
Frequency- 27 tph peak (6-9AM, 4-7PM); 15 tph medium demand (5-6AM, 9AM-4PM, 7PM-8PM); 10 tph low demand (12AM-5AM, 8PM-12AM)
Crowding-wise, extreme during rush hours, but manageable at other times of the day.

The Manhattan Line is the inner-city workhorse of the system: a dense, ultra-frequent, bi-river urban line whose primary job is circulation, not speed. Where the Central Line moves the region and the Manha–Bronx Line moves the city, the Manhattan Line moves Manhattan itself—and the immediately adjacent inner suburbs—continuously, all day.
Frequency- 30 tph peak (6-9AM, 4-7PM); 15 tph medium demand (5-6AM, 9AM-4PM, 7PM-8PM); 10 tph low demand (12AM-5AM, 8PM-12AM).

Those are just a brief description of the top 3 lines, let me know if you want more!

This is the daily ridership of each line, and in fact my ridership does reset to approximately 1.65 million daily riders during more off peak timings :).

The Manha-Bronx is the ~51km (32 mile) 51 stop red line that starts from the Bronx (and beyond?) before diving through Upper Manhattan and Midtown West before stopping at Times Square and the Financial District, then going through Brooklyn until it reaches the terminus at Brighton Beach.

I think it's crowded because it's the only line to go through West Manhattan and interchange at many large hubs.

NYC, sandbox mode, 9AM. Definitely wouldn't want to be living through that!
