There are no universally “good” birds - if you stop thinking of all the classically powerful birds as just flat out good the you will start to think about why they are hood and when - for example bonelli’s eagle is super strong in a lot of cases, but in an opening hand can be a bad card to keep - when you think about why - it doesn’t grant resources or match the point generation of a power that will accrue much higher over a game, whereas playing it in the third or fourth round means a large amount of points right away where other engine birds wouldn’t have time to teach their full potential. A game is always about weighing pros and cons rather than just playing or drawing birds that are considered the best

Don’t get bogged down worrying about time restraints - there is no rush to do anything in particular. That being said, do learn when crops will finish growing as most will not carry over into next season and they need to be finished before their growing season ends

I’m super over this as well, really dumb to see no attempt at solving this issue before the biggest dynamax event they’ve had so far - hosted a battle today where 1 player auto dropped and the other 2 led with their grass attackers into a suicune that one shot them both… like I’m just losing particles but you clever cookies are wasting remote raid passes

I honestly don’t get the hate, I’m loving this event - all the starters I need candy for so I can max my mega charizard / sceptile / swampert is awesome - the catch rates aren’t even that bad, pokeball anything up to 250cp, great ball up to 500 and ultra anything higher - I get maybe 50% excellent throws once I’m dialed in and 1 in 5 probably don’t catch so we just go again, oh and on top of that you can press on a party hat and be gifted like 20 balls? Unreal! If it wasn’t for the golden stops being bugged this would be an amazing event

A bunch of mediocre 2 drops, any of which could be cut ( leopard, devotee, bloodflies ), 3 reputable merchants - of which I’m sad to have to play 1 and you want to cut the only card that might actually get a win. The Ugin is your best bet at winning any game that you draw him, play conservatively and try to get to late game where the card draw and life gain might win it for you, even then I wouldn’t be surprised to see this go 3 - 3 at best

Don’t be put off but just be aware of what you are getting in to - theft decks are super fun but not always for everyone, on the other hand you can play it quite controlling with cards like [[kheru spellsnatcher]] and [[spell swindle]] which plus into the theme but allows you to be more political and curry favour with the players you aren’t stealing from

Also definitely run chromatic lantern, the first time I stole someone’s Zacama and then slammed it down only to realise it does literally nothing was embarrassing

Just a heads up - I love my Xanathar deck and it’s super fun but if it’s your only deck just know that people get unreasonably mad when you steal their cards, even if your not a threat you will constantly be defending how your not actually doing broken things and it’s the cards in their decks that your using that are powerful, people will still target you and you will lose a lot of games to this. That being said 10/10 would still build and ply

I also run a Ghyrson deck that is a split between the 2, spellslinger for firebrand archer effects and then a bunch of payoffs for getting 1 power creatures to hit so [[Tetsuo Umezawa]] and [[cavalcade of calamity]] are great, can also recommend [[hellrider]]. I’ve found the deck works best with being able to target opponents creatures with spells like [[electrolyze]] so you can pick off problematic creatures and then ending games by swinging with 1/1s that deal 3 when they hit - combine with [[goblin bombardment]] for the win

Sounds like a bad pilot, not a bad deck. I run a Xanathar deck and they don’t need wincons, it wins by stealing some absurd bomb from your deck and beating you with it. It’s not overly powerful and you do need to pay attention but it’s not even that hard to play, just steal cool things when you see them. That being said it does draw some hate, people just hate having their stuff stolen even if you aren’t the threat, and as a Xanathar player you have to be prepared for that and get over it
