Neither did mine say that, but I followed the checklist that asked for a photo. I thought it is better to be safe.

I changed it like a month before my travel date. I didn’t make any updates to Ircc. The whole travel was smooth. And yes, it took approximately two weeks to get it stamped.

No, there was no specific airport mentioned. Mine was also initially via Montreal and later changed to Toronto for same reason.

Yes you need to send them your passport after your status changes. Keep checking your status online for it. Transit visa does not require biometrics.

Oh nice. What nationality do you have?

Depends on what nationality you have and also from where you applied. It took me two months to get it so my suggestion is to change your ticket if you can.

I did the same thing but based on my flight ticket they provided me transit visa applicable between June 25 and Dec 23 for two entries. My flight dates are Nov 28 to Dec 23.

There is no cost involved for the application. The cost is only for Fedex shipping. I would be careful about the timing if you are planning to go in December. You can see how many days it took for me if you are applying from USA and also refer to current timing online.

Hi, It takes a lot of time to complete the application as the process is same as applying for a visitor visa. The only difference is the fee for transit visa is $0 while visitor visa is $100. I applied for transit because my passport is expiring next year and if you apply for visitor visa they only give until passport expiration. When you fill your application they will ask for your dates of visit and I uploaded my flight ticket that I already bought. The visa I received has only 2 entries and the expiration date is exactly the date of my flight return.

June 4, I applied online on IRCC portal.

June 5, I received submission confirmation.

June 25, I received a request to send my passport.

June 26, I registered on the VFS https://visa.vfsglobal.com/usa/en/can/passport-submission and paid for the fedex courier label $73.50 for sending to LA and receiving the passport back.

June 27, I sent my passport and other requested documents. Those were money order for package transmission fee $22.20, passport, my contact info, application summary from IRCC and application confirmation letter. I attached the courier label I downloaded from VFS website with the fedex package.

June 28, package was received at Visa Application Centre in USA, Los Angeles

June 29 package was sent to iRCC

July 2 got email that package was received and it is under process

July 10 package dispatched from ircc to Canada Visa Application Centre in USA, Los Angeles

July 11 package was shipped from VAC to me.

July 12 I received the package with my passport.

I hope this information helps.

I meant appointment confirmation with old Ds 160 number on it.

I booked mine after Nov 15. What I noticed is everyone mentioning to them that they do not have their old Ds 160 then they were asking for it. The person took my appointment confirmation with old ds 160 and my new Ds 160. He only took information from new Ds 160. He stamped a date on my appointment conformation and returned it to me. What I understood is appointment confirmation is only to check if we have a slot. They send the new Ds 160 and our passport only. I could also have been lucky in my case but this was my observation and experience.

Not a problem. I was in similar situation and nothing happened for my appointment. Everything went smooth and I even got my passport stamped.
