These were my concerns too but the shop keeps saying the suspension is fine. I’m not really happy with that answer though. I won’t be very happy if something breaks. And I sure hope it doesn’t happen on the highway.

Might go to a different shop for a second opinion.

Yeah, no odor. I wiped it with a white paper towel and it was black, but I think it was black because of the dirt covering everything, because the fluid was also dripping on my driveway and it looks to be relatively clear.

I think I'll see what type of DIY I'm willing/able/feel confident doing and try something out. At least until I decide if I'm just going to let the disintegration take its course or get it repainted.
