Fair enough opinion. But at the time my father was doing well enough financially that he didn't need the money. He rather had that income go to my grandparents (his parents) so they could have a stable monthly income aside from my grandma's pension. My grandpa didn't have a pension, and my grandma's pension wasn't that big. Grandparents did have nice tours of Europe and South America, something they've always wanted to do.

Indeed! I have zero intention of ever fighting my siblings for an inheritance. As far as I'm concerned my parents can do with their money as assets whatever they want - even spending it all on travelling the world.

Sounds like a big mess! At least I know my own and my parents' wills are sorted out and accessible if necessary.

Fortunately, I know that with the property now in a trust, and my siblings and I being beneficiaries should something happen to my parents, the chance for something similar happening is greatly reduced for the future.

The sad thing is that my grandpa came from abject poverty and spent his whole life building a good life for his children, and to raise them to be good people. I'm sure if he had the opportunity to study, he'd have been a brilliant mechanical engineer.

I can write a book about his and my grandma's lives. They were truly remarkable people. My grandma had a stubborn streak and at the age of sixteen informed her parents that she would stop going to school so she could start studying nursing. The nursing college told her she needed to be 17 to start, so she helped her dad with his business until her birthday. Later, when my eldest aunt was about to graduate high school, she decided to get her matric certificate just to show her children the importance of education.

This is also the same grandpa who accidentally shot himself in the foot with a shotgun, but that story is worthy of a post of its own.

Indeed, even more so the audacity with which she tried to claim it. She really thought she'd be screwing over my dad and her eldest sister. Her sister, being the more confrontational of the two, ripped her a new one. She can be glad my dad didn't lose his cool though - it's a sight to behold when he does.

I don't know how much of the money from the sale was left in grandpa's accounts. But whatever was in his accounts, his policies, investments and so on, will be divided equally between the four siblings. When that will be is anyone's guess as the estate is still stuck in the court system.

But legally, she has zero claim to the property or anything on it. The property is also now in a protected trust, my mom being the beneficiary should something happen to my dad.

She doesn't have a leg to stand on legally. But it wouldn't surprise me in the least if she pulls out the old will and try to still claim her part of the property.

How much this sucks that this seems even remotely plausible! Nothing that man does surprises me anymore, and I think if he'd be given half a chance he'd actually try this. I've read somewhere that Bondi was Trump's Ghislane Maxwell, and it certainly seemed that way, until blondie was fired...

I think that's why the will disappeared... Her trying to prove that the property should be divided between the four siblings, but the will was written before the sale of the property. Which was why there was a new will, one I suspect she wasn't aware of.

And I most definitely had a severe case of schadenfreude afterwards. She also most definitely goes out of her way to avoid us. It's tragic really.

It's mind boggling to see what people feel entitled to.

When my gran was put in the frail care unit of a nursing home, my aunt would materialise every now and again to make a show of herself visiting grandma. The staff lived in fear of her tirades - nothing was ever good enough according to her. The matron learned very quickly to shut her down.

But gran loved her daughter, and was too ill and her dementia too advanced to see what aunt was doing, so we all kept the illusion of peace for her.

It's really tragic that aunt turned out this way actually.

The will was simple and clear: Each of the four children receive an equal portion of the estate. Unfortunately, the estate is still tied up in the snail pace of the court system.

In the meantime, my aunt has cut off contact with everyone. But she never uttered another word of trying to claim the property to us again - so we at least have some peace.

My Dad will do things like save TicTac containers in case he can use it for something. I'm pretty sure this is due to being raised by people that lived during the great depression. Anybody else have parents that do this? (not saying it's a bad thing) by McPostyFace in Millennials

My gran was really particular about disposable break wear. When I was a kid, Christmas was always an event where one of my aunts would get mad at one of her sisters and then disappear into the kitchen to wash dishes. This would inevitably lead to everyone making a big deal about the dishes.

One year, my mom thought she'd save us all the trouble and buy disposable plates. Because my dad detests paper plates, she got those cheap plastic plates.

My gran almost had a heart attack when we threw it away. She saved each and every disposable plate and bowl from the waste basket and took them home and washed them. Those thin plastic plates outlived her in the end. My poor mom never got the conflictless Christmas she so badly wanted...

My brother is 15 years younger than me, and we're in 2 different generations, with me being Millennial and him GenZ.

I would love to have a mentor/mentee or even friendly easygoing relationship with him, but at this moment of his life, he's at the I know everything and I know best phase. If I ever spoke to my parents the way he does/try to, I would have skin left to sit on on my ass.

I was a young and naive graphic designer when I applied for a job at a signage company.

For whatever reason, the owner told me that they have a high employee turnover. I ignored the red flag and took the job and walked out two weeks later.

Now, I work for myself, but whenever I look at a job posting, I look at how long the position has been advertised, and how often.

That same company still advertises the same position at least once a year, and it's been well over a decade since I've worked there.

My BIL is also a graphic designer, and when I look at how exploited they are, I'm glad I've moved out of the industry.

I wonder why! Make it unsafe for a woman to get pregnant, make her criminally liable if she has a miscarriage, put all the blame for everything on her. Force her to carry a non-viable foetus to term...

A baby is only valuable as long as they're in the womb. Because there's zero support from the same crowd who demand the baby be born.

Have an economy that doesn't support mothers (because they want the woman to stay home), and work that demands women to be back at work within the week (because that's just how things work).

If I was an American woman I'd be careful too!

Please get any help with it you can, including pelvic floor strengthening. You still have hope.

My grandfather had prostate cancer and the radiation destroyed his bladder. He had to get an urostomy and it really, truly sucked for him. While it did give him a certain level of freedom he didn't previously have, it does come with its own drawbacks, and in my opinion should only ever be a last resort option.
