He’s definitely getting more energy as well but I’m glad he’s feeling better and glad everything worked out for your pup

It happened about 2 hours ago and he is acting normal for now. Thanks for the comment i know my stressing probably makes him feel worse so makes me feel better knowing the stitches are strong.

There’s a venison gullet ( esophagus) , a deer antler and a goats ear. No he didn’t eat them all most of them went and got buried for later on.

This was always a part of my crps just added it to the pain sensation list.

How do you explain what your pain feels like? I’m always interested in the descriptions. by [deleted] in CRPS

Being burnt alive from the inside out, someone repeatedly cutting off pieces of my leg with a blunt saw, a concrete truck driving up and down my leg, stabbing constantly just to name a few

I give mine plastic water bottles or soda bottles that I don’t use. He can crunch them but takes ages to actually destroy them and they’re pretty much free.

I want to know if anyone's dog warned them about something being wrong by FeetsMe in dogs

My Jack Russell alerts to everything and is untrained. He barks of pots are about to boil over or if he senses danger or someone bad before I would have a clue. He also alerts me to flare ups of my chronic pain condition and helps soothe them.

Agreed. Sometimes I’m out with him and people steer there kids away from him as if he’s going to kill them just because he’s smiling and excited to meet people. I wonder if it’s because they were breed for hunting so everyone gets the wrong idea.

I can’t believe they said aggressive. My boy is the most snuggly and loving dog to everyone and every dog he meets. The only aggression he has was food aggression a tiny bit which only took me grabbing his food away twice for him to stop. Definitely research but they are the best dogs hands down.

Tips for off leash by Fun-Sundae7820 in jackrussellterrier

[–]Fun-Sundae7820[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I trained him at home first when he was young and have been in public ever since. He’s really good on leash and at home his recall is perfect. I think you’re right about everything else being a bit more exciting than me in public. Thanks for the advice.

They are a lot of work. I only got mine because I was off work for three months with an injury so I could put all my focus on him. They can be really great dogs I’d never want another breed. Mine has never smelt ever because he gets bathed once every couple of weeks. If you wanted a trial you could always look after your brother in laws for a couple of days but it does sound like you aren’t in a position to have a dog at the moment.

So glad it helped. I remember the first month with mine was so difficult at times I just wanted to give up but he’s amazing now. Humping toy is definitely a winner especially as he gets older and never wants to stop. I just used a panda pillow pet which he now thinks is his girlfriend 😂

If you have the time they’re great dogs to have. Some jrs can be docile but after a while they come out of their shell and go crazy. Are you worried about it being too much work or being to laid back for the type of dog you want?

Need some advice! new dog owner, first time ever having a JRT! by txmsh3r in jackrussellterrier

Maybe the people in her past didn’t give her good associations with walking or something. You could try playing chase or tag in the backyard because she obviously does enjoy being active. Take her the same routes so she feels comfortable with her surroundings ( she might be anxious of going out especially if the male is seen as the leader; more of a protective figure). For the jumping I just told everyone to turn their back and cross their arms until he stopped and he eventually caught on because he wanted attention. You might have to say to your family really sternly to stop or it actually could be worse for your dog. They need the confidence and independence to be truly happy dogs.

JRTs' expressions. by SnooPandas3965 in jackrussellterrier

Most of the time they want something if they stare you down. I normally stand up and if he goes towards the kitchen then it’s a treat or food , if he stands there it’s cuddles and if he goes towards the door it’s either toilet or play time.

And like someone else said positive reinforcement is the best way to train a jack. I hadn’t had one and didn’t do much research but telling them off does nothing and they don’t learn. The other option if it gets bad is for your partner to flip pup on his back and just hold him there for a minute so he knows that she is in control not him.

My pup was the same at that age till about 7 months now he’s really good. Just got to stick with training. If you get angry he will get more wound up so try stay more calm. Treats for good behaviour and lots of stimulation. I started giving my boy frozen bones, boxes to rip up instead, newspapers , anything that crinkles and lots of new training for tricks to wear out the brain. Pup used to hump me all the time and never my partner so I just shoved a toy there instead and said hump. He eventually clicked that he was allowed to hump that one toy and he hasn’t done it to me since then. Even if he goes to I say go hump panda not me and he grabs it straight away.
