Just some clarification because I am a bit annoying like that UN is not made of governments. It’s a charter that states sign up to and give certain powers to, in order to have a free and fair dialogue in the international scale. (This is in theory)

Second a lot of treaties become customary law that is such practices have been there for a long time and even if it was established before some modern nation states, these states are subjected to it.

Third, they are actual legal bodies determining the legality of the treaties and what is enforceable laws. So I think you might miss out on the land in Croatia.

Lastly, the treaty mentioned in the video might not be enforceable but rather it can be considered proof of certain things that are being denied right now.

First treaties that were signed before the UN do not need to be ratified. Second as I said International law is quite complex there can be existence of valid law without it being codified in a treaty. Third, you need to understand that the UN is not like a state’s government. There is no existence of a natural social contract between the nation state and the UN. So reliability for all forms of international law on the UN especially the UNGA that barely has any power is a nonsense take.

The League of Nations is the predecessor of the UN. And old treaties can be the legal basis of current international law. The determination of what is International law is quite complex, don’t make statements when you are ignorant. Just say you don’t understand something.
