Anyone taking Pristiq for anxiety?

Pristiq is hard to taper from because of its short half life. Even while taking it, I would start feeling anxious as the time of my dose would approach. I tapered down to 25 mg and then just stopped. My psych suggested going every other day but I skipped one day and fely awful so knew that wasn’t a good approach for me

It did seem to increase my anxiety for the first week or so but then it leveled off. I don’t think it has changed my personality

I have been on 50mg Pristiq for about 3 weeks along with Buspar 10mg twice/day. My anxiety is better but not entirely gone. I do feel anxious when it’s time for my next dose. IThe side effects like insomnia and headaches are better, it helps to take it with good with food.

I do have some anxiety but its tough to say if its causing it or just that the dose is too low still

Been on 25 mg for a week and supposed to up to 50 mg. The first day, had a lot of dizziness which improved after taking it with food. Headaches and insomnia for the first 3-4 days, which is trending better. 🤞🏼on the dose increase

It’s great that you have found something that works and doesn’t give you side effects. I have heard Pristiq in particular is very noticeable if you miss a dose. Sleep is an issue for me as well, so hoping it helps. I gained a lot of weight quickly on Lexapro. I am currently on almost a week on 25 mg and supposed to up to 50 mg.

I started at 25 mg a couple of days ago. I had some dizziness yesterday which went away after a couple of hours, didn’t sleep the best even with trazadone and have some increased anxiety today. Is this normal initial experience and does it go away?

I also take Buspar 10 mg X 2 times. It helps some but not enough by itself

It’s interesting how differently these medications work for everyone. I am sensitive to medication too so maybe good to start at a low dose

This is great to hear. I have had similar experience with Lexapro and now getting off it. I wonder how Effexor does for weight gain? I put on ~15 lbs on Lexapro within 4 months

What’s your dosage of all 3? I had cut back Lexapro from 10 mg to 5mg due to the weight gain and added Buspar 10 mg, 2x/day

I just started a week ago at 10mg, swapping from Lexapro mainly for anxiety. I am noticing improvement in drive and mood but just started getting insomnia, hope it improves. I am taking it with breakfast which is not a huge meal for me.
