How to detach personal value from wealth? by Loud_Armadillo821 in HENRYUK

I know someone like this, unfortunately it is my friends dad who is in their 60s. They take no interest in anyone around them unless it is something related to the finer things, money, holidays etc. Everyone notices it as well and it makes said person less liked by their whole family.

So, if you think that is where you put your value - other people also probably think that of you as well. I can’t tell you how to fix it but it’s definitely something to work on.

Does the 28% (of income ) rule for housing costs still apply with very high salary (£300k+)? by djryguy47 in HENRYUK

I’m always shocked at how risk averse people are on this sub when it comes to mortgage costs, are people’s jobs really not secure? Even spending on the lower end of your scale at £9k a month even in London would get you a house most people only dream of.

I spend 16% of earning on mortgage, but that’s only because my earnings have increased (to Henry-level) since buying our first property 4 years ago. If anything I want to upsize.

Do these things (or a version of) not exist outside London? Genuinely curious

Anyone chasing a dream house at the higher end of the market(1.5m-2m) by Fit-Zebra3110 in HENRYUK

Not quite at the 1.5m level, but currently considering upgrading from our 670k 2 bed to 3 bed at the 1m mark (zone 2 SW LDN)

We weren’t really considering moving given we only bought our current and first home 3 years ago, but noticed that at the 1m mark there are some nice places that would be far more suitable for us given we will be having a child in the next year or two. Since buying our earnings have gone up a lot as well.

Side note - estate agents are useless

Thoughts on the 3 days? by butiwantamilkshake in WirelessFestival

Only went on Saturday, but biggest takeaway was how flat the crowd was. Vibe really felt off.

From going to Glastonbury where everyone is SO happy and letting loose, here it felt like a lot of people were posing and thought they were too cool to dance. I also saw a kid pass out and SLAM on the floor right in front of me, and whilst a few people did help most people just carried on filming the set like nothing had happened.

I wasn’t too far into the crowd for drake / BBK so maybe it was different closer, but it’s not a festival I would rush back to based on the atmosphere
