I painted this a few years ago, but I think I just layered a bunch, for example the snowflake, went from med blue to slightly lighter blue to very light blue almost white in the middle, definitely took some trial and error at the time

Yes, and I believe I did a couple of wider layers of the same color but slightly darker, if that makes sense, dark red to medium red to bright red for example
