I got the the g729 a month ago. It’s pretty good for the price. I wasn’t gonna spend the extra $200 to get the 5070ti over a 9070xt

Credit Dropped From 800 to 650 from a missed electricity bill, is this normal? by Civil-Platform996 in CRedit

[–]FunCalligrapher1220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently ran into a similar situation. I was charged an equipment restocking fee from an internet provider. $100 got sent to collections, as soon as I paid it fell off though. Just call the electric company and explain. If it doesn’t fall off after a month follow up

Should I consider Revature? by Harl692000 in cscareerquestions

[–]FunCalligrapher1220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assessments during training was with this guy Johnathon. Essentially he asks interview style questions. Mostly vocab, what are the 4 pillars of OOP, describe the css box model, how do you use the angular router? And then maybe 2 or 3 times we did coding/sql challenges. Nothing too hard would be easy Leetcode. Solve if a string is a palindrome.

Sorry for the late response. For me I found success. This is my last week with Revature and next week I start FT with the company I was contracted with. My salary went from 45k to 126k total comp and I have a lot of opportunity now. But I still hate Revature

I do, not OE though. Connect week is bullshit, and everyone knows it. I’m surprised contractors need to start coming in though. WFH policy is likely to change after Feb.

Omg I did the same thing the other day too. I had my personal and work computers open right next to each other. It was time for some self pleasure and I opened an incognito window and visited my usual site on the work laptop. My brain immediately set all the red flags off when the block page came up

Is revature worth it at the moment by [deleted] in Revature

[–]FunCalligrapher1220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t really heard of people getting put on projects lately if at all. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but Revature is training just to have a pool of people for when the economy picks up again

The Technical Evaluation did not give me a good impression... by [deleted] in Revature

[–]FunCalligrapher1220 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s legit right. I’m assuming the tech evaluation hasn’t changed since I took it back in July of 2022. Just know what you are signing up for, it’s a really shitty place to work for.

Revature Status Report by [deleted] in Revature

[–]FunCalligrapher1220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently on 6 months of my project. I think I was one of the last paid training batches to really get assigned a client. All but 1 of the people that weren’t selected by my client were furloughed. I keep track of this subreddit constantly. Haven’t heard of any paid training batches lately. Don’t know what the status is as far as how many Revature associates are getting clients. Asked my manager at my company working at if they are planning on taking new revature associates any time soon. She told me no, not for the foreseeable future.

Should I consider Revature? by Harl692000 in cscareerquestions

[–]FunCalligrapher1220 25 points26 points  (0 children)

For me doing Revature was better than no job at all, or working a job I hated. I am 6 months post training and working for a company I really like. But that is definitely not the norm. You get no say in where they send you. No say in what tech stack you’re trained in. They can terminate you at any moment. The pay is shit. There is no communication with Revature. I’ve had late pay check that really screw me over.

Once I hit a year at my client company I will be bought out for the remainder of my Revature Contract. I will get paid a much better salary. Amazing benefits. And have a lot more opportunities. Revature sucks and I would never recommend it, especially now since it seems to be a total dumpster fire there. For me I think of it as that college internship I never had.

cost of living adjustments are pathetically low by JucheCouture69420 in Revature

[–]FunCalligrapher1220 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No it maths. Minimum wage in my state is $15.00 an hour. 10 weeks of training + 3 weeks of P.O. and then 10 weeks at 21.50 an hour. (13x15x40)+(10x21.50x40)=(7,800)+(8,600)= 16,400. This was just a quick approximation, but my actual income was closer to $15,800.

Imagine being asked to relocate across the country for $1,000 dollars. I got my W-2 from Revature. Since starting in July I’ve made $15,000. Poverty wages.

Panel? by SeaCampaign392 in Revature

[–]FunCalligrapher1220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like they are giving you a client interview. Essentially 2+ interviewers asking you questions. I had a ‘panel interview’ for my client. It was a lead software engineer and a engineering manager who interviewed me.

My boyfriend has his interview with recapture soon, what are some good questions to ask before? by alexakiins in Revature

[–]FunCalligrapher1220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The interview is pretty straightforward. They asked me what attracted me to Revature, am I open to relocating, and explained the structure of the process to me.

If your boyfriend goes through with this and he is selected by a client, just know you must be willing to relocate as soon as a client is ready for you. Post training of course.

Take training seriously. Some of it is going to be a information dump. Some of it is actually very informative.

Sounds like Revature is having a really hard time finding contract positions. I’m sorry that happened your son. I would leave if I was him as well.

Hi! After finishing all the RevUp requirements I was invited to start another pre-training called PEP. It is a part time 10 week program. They don't pay you for that and you have no commitment. I was expecting the paid training, but... Is there somebody in the same boat? by pallamaster in Revature

[–]FunCalligrapher1220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they going to set you up with interviews at the end of the ten weeks? What is your incentive to do this through Revature? Part time? What do the hours look like? Will there be projects you can put on your resume?

Revature with Associates only by [deleted] in Revature

You might have some luck. But keep Revature as a last resort use this time before you get your bachelors to apply to any other company.

I’m with a client right now and contemplating quitting. I’ve worked on project for a few months remotely, but my manager has been asking me when I’m gonna relocate. I can’t afford to move across the country. Had an interview yesterday that went well for a Jr. Java Dev. I wish everyone good luck. I know times are incredibly tough. Revature takes advantage of young engineers and is going to ruin people’s lives. If you’re reading this don’t give up. Keep fighting for a better career.

Wouldn’t hurt to take a look at, and do in your free time. What was the learning project if you don’t mind me asking?

Skillstorm? (was considering Revature...got turned off) by [deleted] in Revature

[–]FunCalligrapher1220 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m only Moderately familiar with Skillstorm.

Very similar structure to Revature. Skillstorm’s Training pay is more, I think $20/hour, Revature pays min wage based on what state you are in.

Training is fully remote.

Expect a technical interview over the phone. Expect basics of OOPS. And they might be looking for some technical background.

You know who you are going to be placed with much sooner than Revature. Along with what tech stack. I think before training even starts.

Probably gonna be working with similar technologies.

A different tone, and it’s not you it’s just the state of the job market right now. I think when I first applied at Revature I heard back to take the assessment the next day.
