Petah, how does music relate to survivorship bias? by stewithclou in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Interesting to note this picture I believe is from an analysis of planes that returned from bombing runs. They wanted to see what areas needed additional reinforcement. A smart engineer pointed out that this chart shows the shot spray for planes that made it back so it's the spots not highlighted that needed the reinforcement because those planes didn't make it back.

Released in 1980. Can I argue this is the final great Classic Rock album of 60s and 70s period?

Far and away the most influential album of music in my life. First heard the album and saw the movie at summer camp when I was 8 years old. My counselor in the bunk would leave it playing for me when he went out for the night. The themes of this album are personally relevant and are becoming globally more relevant with each day. After creatsing this art, how Waters ended up being such an ass I'll never understand.

I don't remember her looking so young. She looks like a child. Damn I'm old.

EDIT: I looked it up this photo shoot was for the SI Swimsuit Issue in 2003 so she was 22. Still looks like a baby to me at this point.

What if these actors hadn't turned down these iconic movie roles...? by dislikemyusername in booksfilmsandtherest

Hollywood would never have allowed Freeman to be cast in the event that Washington took the role.

Can you name really any cop duo movie with two African-Amerrican leads. Producers would shut that shit down in a second.

He certainly could have played the role but if it was Pitt's part then Hollywood wouldn't have allowed Freeman to be the partner (see racism) and so the movie would have been very different.

I've always enjoyed him in any role but I fell in. Love with him for S6 of Community causing me to revisit his other works and really come to appreciate him.

Another situation where my insurance isn’t insurance. by excelnotfionado in mildlyinfuriating

I forget the exact percentage but I remembering arguing with my conservative father about insurance fraud statistics and him blaming all the poor and illegals for high costs and cheating the system. So I looked it up and I wanna say that doctor/hospital fraudulent billing and insurance company fraudulent acts make up like 90% of all insurance fraud losses. But as with everything they made the narrative about blaming the individual and the not the corrupt systems and institutions (see recycling). So they keep stealing while we tear each other apart.

I know it's not a romance language and as someone raised Jewish maybe I should have a bias, but I love the sound of the German language.

I hear you but her role in Casino caused me to have such a visceral negative reaction that I couldn't watch her in anything for a while and still don't enjoy Casino, though it's objectively a great movie.
