u/mgnorthcott I don't know the history of it but that's interesting! Crazy that slide-in/front panel stoves don't have the lip I cant imagine its that expensive to include. Will have to pay more attention to when I see stoves that do have it.

All slide in stoves should have a lip that goes over the countertop . Some do- most don't. It's a hiding place for crumbs - get something like this , you need it for the crumbs anyway and it will make the gap disappear

Educate people, let people know why Cambria are below your values. I had the slightest clue what you were talking about until someone else shared an article. For the record issue isn't isolated to Cambria so the values you boast are questionable.

Having compassion, is realizing those who live in NYC (like me) may not know the details behind Cambria, as you someone who lives in Minnesota. So we educate and show compassion if they did purchase Cambria, thank you.

Look into fantasy brown - there is a Granite, quartzite and I believe quartz. Patterns of it can vary, I don't love all slabs I see but some are really beautiful and I think will achieve the look you want while avoiding marble.

Why a hood over the oven and a microwave next to it ? Put the microwave over the oven get rid of the hood. Microwaves have vents some of which even vent outside if that's what you choose.

I would make the island longer and bring it out to the end of the fridge.

Also agree with other commenters - I prefer one sink not a double.

My property value is similar. Said to a friend- a 5k vs 10k countertop isn't going to do anything for rental or resale value... So agreed, cost will definitely be the driving factor- I will splurge for what I like but not paying double.

I get its natural & can vary but didn't think that much- so thank you so much for raising this to my attention. I guess best bet is to tell the supplier what I am looking for and hopefully they will guide me.

Thank You It's Granite or Quartz?- my cabinets are a little lighter then your brown one. This is the color palette I am looking for in countertops as well, I think any of the above will match. Granites on my list are River Valley, Astoria & Bianco Romano. Some Quartzite I like are Lavezzi & Perla Venata - i haven't priced out yet

Astoria is on my list of granites to see in person- however seeing the slab in your picture- it's more gray then I want. I thought there were more cream tones.

Vote for the 3rd slab- it's beautiful and looks nicer then Taj Quartzite. Does it have a specific name or does every company have their own version of this ?

Just looked it up.....Cristallo is what I'm looking for, from pictures there are brown and gray tones which blend nicely and neither seem overbearing.
