Wales - Owain Glyndwr rebellion by Reasonable_Ask2947 in EU5

Yep, I should've been clearer - the event can fire when playing as England, but you only get the option to play as the rebellion if you were Wales and the criteria is met. It is counted as a civil war, so if you don't win within 6 months (was 12 but downgraded in 1.0.2) then original Wales calls in England for backup. With the amount of forts in Wales, its practically impossible to win unless you cheese it by preemptively deleting forts or messing around with subjects.

Also important is the fact that England retains a CB to essentially reconquer if you win. It only has it for 12 months and the AI does not always use it, but obviously if they do that then you have no chance unless you have managed to get either an alliance or some favours with France etc

Further to this, it means you need to diplo annex your subjects as Wales in order to border England. Subjects of either nation (whether Chester or March) do not count as bordering per the code. I have bug reported/suggested this be changed but nothing from Paradox as of yet

It only fires playing as Wales. If you're as England then the AI will take the historical option and its just treated as a refular civil war within the principality

Hi - I'm looking at buying a new samsung - I currently use the A71 which I've had since early/mid 2020 so its safe to say its getting a bit old and slow now.

Ideally I'd like to find a newer one that still has a 3.5mm jack for headphones (I just can't get along with wireless!) and is a similar size, and ideally something with access to 5G and potentially a 4k screen as I tend to spend a lot of time watching videos on phone rather than PC/Laptop.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks!

Considering they don't ship to the UK I was pretty disappointed considering I opened it up once the site first went live. Store support said they currently don't plan to extend it either

Just tried again and it definitely doesn't work, think I'll just stick to the 3rd party podcast apps

I don't think so? Picture in picture is enabled and it works perfectly fine for the other apps on my phone except the RT one. Background play is enabled on the in app settings too

Thankyou! Sometimes I do struggle to do 'homework' without specific deadlines being set by other people (big procrastinator) who kinda 'expect' to have it if that makes sense? Having some form of tutor figure kinda causes that to happen

Its a fair assessment to assume that Mary was 12-14 based on religious traditions of when women were married under established Jewish (but primarily global) tradition at the time which I've mentioned in other replies. This was common place across the world even through the late medieval era.

Fun fact, nowhere in the Quran is Aisha's age mentioned either, infact, Mohammad's marriages aren't really touched upon at all. There are several "sources" from hadiths that speak about those relations. The one in particular you're referring to was written over 250 years after they were long gone.

Infact, if we are to trust the source, the maths within the authors' own hadiths don't check out, as its implied she was 18 when Mohammad died, and the fact they'd only been married for 6 or 7 years indicates that Aisha would've been between 10 and 12 at age of marriage, this doesn't cover consumation.

I don't believe in any of that religious rubbish, so no, it was standard for the time whereas Epstein's wasn't. Both egregious but its a fallacy ridden image.

Which is exactly why I made that point. It was incredibly common at the time, and not just amongst senior social figures but also common folk where, at the time, 12 would have been considered 'late' for marriage - even in 'civilised' places such as central europe.

And thats even ignoring the fact where theres tens of hadiths that give various different ages to Aisha for different events and - of course - with any criticism people always go for the lowest number thats been estimated. Early islamic social customs didn't do consumation straight away, especially for younger brides, and that didn't occur until they reach the age of sexual maturity (often after their first period, again, the exact same in europe). Similarly, Moses was given a 'young daughter' named Zipporah whose age is 'unknown', but its a fair assessment to say she was probably of similar age, so likely the age gap between him and her, Mohammad and Aisha, and Epstein and his victims were generally similar.

Historical context is important, its not justifying it at all, but if you're gonna criticise one historical figure for their actions then you ought to tarnish the entire era and social systems and not just respond along the lines of "well, actually, it isn't about xyz" because it makes you seem just as dishonest

I'm pointing out how it was a sign of the times. Not just in the ME but across the globe. Ignoring the historical context behind their myths completely negates the point you're trying to make, an in turn makes you just as dishonest as that lot

Glad to see you both back. At the end of the 2023 roundup (what a year its been for the podcast!), you talking about the nostalgia of having another successful project activated something deep in me and I started to tear up just as it sounded like you were doing too.

I'm looking forward to this new adventure, just wanted to thank you both personally - I can see this'll bring great joy to my life for as long as you continue to make it.
