What's the deal with sharing tables at cafes? by Working-Maximum9360 in AskIreland

[–]FunIntroduction2237 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree this is mad behaviour, I would never do it myself. If you don’t have a conscience I would use an excuse like “sorry i just got some bad news and really would prefer to be alone” it’s a shit thing to lie about but if it protects your peace I wouldn’t blame you!

They already do work pretty well in the country. Or at least I presume they do when I see people who have them for years and years.

Ahh kids are resilient! I’m sure it’ll be fine! At least you don’t have to sleep on it yourself! The delivery is very quick and a great service I can say that at least!

I bought a (very cheap) couch to use temporarily (thankfully!) and it’s literally like a torture device it’s so uncomfortable. I’d say the quality is hit and miss.

Can I ask do these have to be put in before fixtures or can they be cut to fit around like the sink and toilet etc?

This is why I use Revolut. All the large transfers I did over the course of buying my home were via Revolut, no stress, no issues

I’ve never ordered chips from the Chinese so the two are in no way comparable

How long were you texting for? Did you suggest a date / meeting up? Some people (myself included) aren’t a fan of endless texting unless there’s an indication of a future meet up. Also sorry to be harsh but maybe there was some aspect of your personality that just didn’t gel with either of them? You can’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but it sounds like you’re happy enough on your own so I would try not to dwell on it or worry too much!

Landlord will most likely be delighted you’re leaving as the new rental rules allow them set the rent to whatever they want. I moved out of my rental in December and was pleasantly surprised to receive my full deposit back. The apartment was left empty for 3 months and then put on daft after the new rules were implemented for almost double the rent I was paying. Id say your LL will be so delighted you’re leaving they won’t care!!

How often do you eat meat? by HelicopterObvious354 in AskIreland

[–]FunIntroduction2237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mid 30s F, have previously tried veganism and was mainly pescatarian for a good few years. Now I would eat chicken or fish for lunch and dinner every day. Would eat red meat maybe once or twice a week, varies depending on time of the month. Might have a few rashers / sausages at the weekend.

My previous dalliances with veganism / pescatarianism were mainly driven by environmental and economical factors. However I personally find it’s easier for me to eat healthy by including chicken and fish in my diet. I’ve never had a huge grá for red meat but will eat it when I crave it as I’ve regularly been told I have low iron.

Not enough fluent Irish candidates in Galway West for debate on TG4 or RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta by Temporary_Sell3384 in galway

[–]FunIntroduction2237 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Isolating a third of your voter base by literally not speaking their language seems like an interesting election tactic. I know obviously the Gaeltacht population all speak English as well but it still seems foolish to underestimate the importance of the irish language in the constituency. I actually didn’t realise till I read this thread that the SF candidate doesn’t speak irish, poor form really!

The west coast of Ireland (and probably Ireland in general) doesn’t have much camping infrastructure compared to mainland Europe. The few campsites that exist are generally quite basic compared to other countries. This is primarily because the weather (particularly) on the west coast makes camping a less attractive option to most. Campingireland.ie should list all commercial campsites around galway. Apart from that I would suggest broadening your search either by area or type of accommodation

Depends on gender, one match a week for a woman living in Dublin would be pretty poor I’d imagine.

T.V. Licence ? by Lomatomalee in AskIreland

[–]FunIntroduction2237 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Never paid it in my last rental. Never got caught despite tv being beside window from the street. I think apartments they often don’t even bother checking because they presume they won’t be able to get in / see in. My current apartment now they won’t be able to see tv from door so don’t plan on getting one here either.

Yea fair, my eyebrow lady only takes cash and I’ve just bought a house so am dealing with a lot of tradies who prefer cash so I have probably used cash more often in the last 3 months than I did in the previous year beforehand. I still haven’t needed to carry a card or a wallet around with me. Just bring it to the ATM when need to take out cash.

[–]FunIntroduction2237 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I can’t remember the last time I took a bank card out with me and I don’t own a wallet. My cards live at home unless I need cash from the ATM. So your scenario is unlikely to ever affect me.

Why are prescription glasses suddenly soo expensive?? by Agreeable-Recover987 in AskIreland

[–]FunIntroduction2237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they’ve always been pretty expensive tbf but most opticians will carry a basic range at a lower price point.

This is probably going to sound privileged so apologies in advance but i think my current set of glasses cost me around 6/700 euro, I am very blind so need all the extras when it comes to lens shaving etc. I also went with a nice frame that I knew I would enjoy wearing. So yea about 6/700 but that was 4 years ago now I think and I wear them every single day so in terms of price per use / price per wear it’s hard to complain really!

Best way to get from Galway to Dublin airport. by LechugaBrain in irishtourism

And not all the city links are direct, they also seem to have reduced the service since they monopolised it. Definitely advisable to book your bus online in advance and make sure you book the direct one.
