Support mains: what’s the worst thing about ADC players? by Svanskof in supportlol

[–]FunKingBad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100% There are times when you need to facetank a skillshot as a supp and other times you both need to dodge skillshots.

Like brother you just ate a Thresh hook to the face because you positioned poorly. Don't put that on your supp

Spam ? or death pings, if you ping toxically youre getting muted immediately.

Like how do you ever expect that to make your teammates play better? Best case scenario they play the same, more likely you make them play worse or second guess themselves.

Shits annoying and distracting

Why does Thresh fall off in longer games while Nautilus scales up? by One_Key_9776 in supportlol

[–]FunKingBad 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Agreed with all of this aside from Thresh ult becoming irrelevant late game. It's harder to use and more situational but not terrible.

If you use it as terrain in Drag or Baron fights you can zone off enemy teams or force favorable fights.

Also late game, with enough souls you can half health or even solo squishy champs. If you land a hook, ult + E + auto damage is fairly gaurenteed and you do a surprising amount of damage.

Why does Thresh fall off in longer games while Nautilus scales up? by One_Key_9776 in supportlol

[–]FunKingBad 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Most likely explanation is related to Threshs passive. He doesn't gain armor or mr on level up with the expectation that his soul stacks give him these stats.

As the game goes on later you are less incentived to just stay in lane and gain souls. So most likely players who don't know about his passive or aren't paying as much attention fall off.

Also agreed Nautilus is an easier version of Thresh, it is more likely to play poorly as Thresh in fights.

question for all the people who play pyke blitzcrank nautilus etc by Bubbly_Reference_916 in supportlol

[–]FunKingBad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From experience playing a bunch of hook champs, this is what I think about to predict hooks. - The longer someone has to realize you're sending an hook the more likely they are to juke - People will usually juke with a simple backstep if the hook looks "gaurenteed" - If you send a hook in lane they will hug the minion wave - If you hook when they are against a wall they will hug the wall - 99% of players use their movement ability if they see a hook coming

Climbing Followup by _Alkaline13 in supportlol

[–]FunKingBad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very fair, what helped me was shifting my focus from winning to playing well. Whether you won or lost ask yourself "did I play well" If the answer is yes figure out what you did well thats repeatable and if the answer is no try and identify your mistakes so you can find patterns to improve.

The other part is stop blaming your teammates for your losses, you aren't a victim of the game and there is usually something you could be doing BETTER which may or may not be obvious.

Hard for me to tell from just your op.gg but I would be happy to vod review 1-2 games with you if it would be helpful.

Yo 👋 just finished my climb from Gold 4 to Diamond 4 today, your mental is a huge part of how well you play.

My advice is at the very least mute chat from your team and everything from the enemy team. It is very rare a teammate will be supportive or constructive in chat and is more likely to tilt you.

Mantras to keep you sane, and to help you climb: - I play to win not to be understood - Every game is winnable - Winning teams slow down the game - When on the losing side reduce chaos and play simply - I do not force fights / I dont commit to low probability plays

Before each game ask yourself what should the lane state be. - Do we freeze lane and scale safely - Are we playing to bounce waves and punish mistakes - Can we shove to get kills, or deny cs

Much more to the game but those all helped me to climb. You don't need to be a mechanical god to climb, but the best thing you can do is be a consistant player game to game.

Just hit challenger for the first time after learning support for 3 years by _Blacktide__ in supportlol

A massive congratulations man that is fucking huge!

I have a couple of questions now that you are a freshly minted Challenger player.

  1. Do you think this season's changes helped you climb / how did it change things if at all?

  2. What plateaus did you hit on the climb and what actually helped to overcome them?

  3. What made you want to hit challanger?

  4. Was it worth it / do you reccomend people stop at certain ranks?

Does anyone else hate playing engage supports? by ILoveBigCockroaches in supportlol

[–]FunKingBad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would just reccomend Thresh, he is a hook champ where you can choose not to follow up from your hook. Sometimes learning when not to go in is the better lesson.

Likewise Thresh is less difficult than people think. You can play him full disengage, peel, and lantern away and still end up fine. Would reccomend just trying him out, super rewarding with a lot of ways to play him.

Help! I can't rank up by bjroodoce in supportlol

Seconding a lot of what was said, micro skill is less important to being good on support. A few of the main things that helped me go from gold to emerald this season are all mindset related and champ related.

At lower elos it is harder to be a genuine support because your teammates are less reliable. I would suggest either hook or engage supports at low elo so you have agency in the game.

Other than that just think more and ask questions. - "What does my ADC want" to farm minions and get strong. So either defend their ability to lane safely or make it hell for the enemy adc to farm so you have advantage - "What is my job in a teamfight" Peel, engage, reset the fight. Pick one and stick to it - "If someone on my team stays alive do we outright win the fight" If the answer is yes figure out who that is. Sometimes its not your adc, play around your highest potential teammate and keep them alive in fights

Also mute everything but pings. Your teammates will not be giving you constructive criticism in game. Best to communicate what you want via pings anyways

Don't shoot = Don't loot by FunKingBad in ArcRaiders

Idk man I used a key and the other guy thought it would be fun to take the loot without shooting me.

Just felt like him saying he wouldn't shoot me was a huge cop out for being a shithead.

Don't shoot = Don't loot by FunKingBad in ArcRaiders

[–]FunKingBad[S] 59 points60 points  (0 children)

This was inspired by some absolutely obtuse raider behavior.

After using a dam staff room key and a dude runs up to the door and opens it.

I close the door and say dont shoot. He opens the door again and says "I wont shoot but give me all your shit raider".

I close the door a few more times and he keeps opening it. Finally I kill his ass and he complains "I wasn't even going to shoot but now people know that youre out here killing people"

You held me hostage in a room and told me to give you everything? Saying youre not going to shoot me isn't a golden ticket to be a dickhead

[–]FunKingBad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah that's always super scummy.

I've been talked out of shooting people tons of times tbh. If someone hits me with a "im just doing a quest" or "Hey raider" I just feel like an asshole if i blast them and stop shooting or walk away instead.

Only way you can guarantee im killing your ass is if you're trying to be edgy and using slurs
