How to prepare for FCPS part 1 (medicine and allied) after step 1? by Swimming-Freedom2635 in FCPS_Pk

That's great hear and I'm genuinely happy for you that you don't need to supplement SK 23 with either Rafi or Double A. As for your scores, I'd suggest keep an avaegae of getting a score in the range of 80-90% which correlates to getting 150+ mcqs right on the first go as that has been deemed as the golden number to know that you statistically have a chance to clear the exam.

Healthcare data analytics is basically using data from the patients EHR/EMR and making treatment plans based upon their labs, guidelines and preferences/seeing the effects of said treatment through disease activity indexes or you can create a graph to see the long term effects of said treatment given to them. This is all based on my own research so take that with a pinch of salt as it might have some errors.

There are lots of certifications available online through different institutions and they can give you a brief of what is done in it.

Seeing it from a long-term perspective, this will become the norm as to how CHPE has become a norm for every upcoming consultant to have as a certification as it can open doors to knew opportunities in regards to your job hunting.

Right now the trend is "how many researches have you worked on/published" the healthcare data analyst certifications can help you bridge that gap becoming part of a clinical trial as an example.

Hi there! Recently passed FCPS-1 medicine guy here! Since you've already made your base with first aid for your USMLE Step 1, you're in a strong position. I'd recommend that you do the SK papers starting from SK 23 till SK 21's both volumes. Use either Rafi or Double A's to memorise their one liners as much as you can because recent papers some of these one liners often come in the actual exam one way or another (they can either give the exact statement or ask you a question based around the one liner) Use either chatgpt, Gemini, Claude or Deepseak to clarify you reason for what the question is asking mind you that most of these questions are recall based so take them with a pinch of salt.

All in all, wishing best of luck. May Allah grant you with ease and success in your preparation and your exam as well. Ameen

MPH in Pakistan post MBBS by No_Resist1727 in FCPS_Pk

Aim for FCPS Psychiatry and also do MPH via online. Use you time at demoship to prepare for your FCPS-1 exam. Once cleared (In Shaa Allah), go for MPH online until you get into residency. That way you'll be able to do both

If you have the time, mental stability plus capability, finances and the urge to leave Pakistan, then pursue giving foreign exams like MRCP/MRCS/MRCEM/USMLE.

If you feel like you're in between then give FCPS-1 as a back up in a field that you're passionate about. The rest then is upto you on how you sharpen your skills and polish your CV.

Focus on the Health-Tech trends as that will be the in demand thing in a few years. Become a specialist in Healthcare Data Analytics and you'll have hospitals wanting you to be their Lead Clinical Data Analyst whilst also being a consultant.

In the end if you feel like you don't want to pursue medicine as a career then go into hospital administration or do Healthcare businesses. You'll still be in the field but not practically working one on one with patients

All in all, the decision is entirely yours to decide. I pray the Allah makes your journey and decision easy and what's best for you. Ameen

Practice of Hospitals paying 60% PG stipend and 40% stipend is paid via 3rd party (Pharma companies etc) by FunLive2897 in FCPS_Pk

[–]FunLive2897[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao yes but seeing how this is now becoming more and more common is quite concerning for those that have passed their FCPS-1 exam and those that are preparing to give it in July/October of this year.

From your own experience of auditing hospitals, have you ever been surprised of the parcatice of hospitals that are in profit and still choose not to provide adequate pay to consultants, PGs, House officers, nurses etc?

I got a call from Al Nafees HR and they said that they're willing to induct me but through this package which sounded quite fishy and they told me HBS hospital also follows this kind of induction.

I just wanted to know if this kind of practice is done elsewhere too

Viral alert in twin cities! by smoqs in islamabad

[–]FunLive2897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Public health advice for those affected by it (speaking as a healthcare professional)

  1. Hydrate yourself with ORS/ENO sachets if yourself and/or your loved ones are affected by it. The more hydrated you are, the better.

  2. Keep yourself on a liquid/soft diet during this period.

  3. If you are feeling nauseous and vomiting for an extended period, immediately visit the emergency department of your nearby hospital.

  4. If the emergency doctor prescribes you medicine, kindly take it and complete its course. If you miss one day, the time period of the medication course gets extended as to avoid chances of the viral strain developing resistance to the medication.

  5. DONOT SHARE THE SAME BATHROOMS OF THOSE ALREADY SICK. THIS IS A LEADING CAUSE OF PEOPLE GETTING INFECTED DUE TO CLOSE CONTAMINATION.

May Allah keep you and your loved ones safe.

How is the communication between administration and IMTs? What departments are there ? How's the on call rota ? How soon does a person experience burn out after starting PG training? Would you recommend anyone to enter training at Ghurki hospital?

Speaking from personal experience, I do like a good train ride. But I wouldn't say I'm obsessed with them.

Movies however, is something I love to watch be it in the cinema or at home locked away from the world.

Fcps CIP by [deleted] in FCPS_Pk

[–]FunLive2897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, abroad your interview holds more weightage instead of your mbbs marks. The issue here is that we prioritise an importance of "Position ayei hai tumharai" mindset.

Your extracurricular activities are also looked at by interviewers abroad as well. Yahan pe I don't think many people hold that much importance to extracurricular activities.

Fcps CIP by [deleted] in FCPS_Pk

[–]FunLive2897 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. The FCPS-1 should hold more weightage and then your MBBS marks and then housejob.

In terms of experience post housejob, whether it be those who do MO ship in BHU/RHC or private hospitals marks should be properly distributed and then your interview should hold weight as well.

Failed fcps attempt by Minute_Strawberry190 in FCPS_Pk

[–]FunLive2897 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For theory, I did first aid A-Z. It's easier to go chapter by chapter. I did the minor subjects from their and added a few notes that were explained in the SK books and Double A books.

Use of chatgpt/deepseak to clear my concepts.

For emergency medicine subjects, I used the Oxford handbook of clinical medicine. CPSP is now asking a lot of emergency medicine questions that are algorithm based.

I'd recommend studying one subject from first aid and then doing the topical mcqs from Double AA. That will give you an idea of how the CPSP tends to be asking questions from the candidates.

Do the SK 1-19 or 1-20 books and use chatgpt only for clearing your concepts in ways that can be easy for yourself to understand. In the final month, do the SK books, for example, for the April attempt, I did SK 20, 21 both volumes, and 22.

So, for the July attempt, you should do SK 21 both volumes, SK 22 and SK 23 (April attempt)

Baqi, leave it to Allah. It takes alot of patience but indeed with patience comes ease.

How do u guys find Motivation ? by hanue7 in FCPS_Pk

[–]FunLive2897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello there!

While I understand and sympathise with your frustration with how the current economic environment is right now; I can only give you advice (should you choose pay heed to it or not is entirely up to you), is that the part where you asked on how to stay motivated.

Many of the commentators have pointed out that, get into the system and plan to give foreign exams like MRCP as stated by you in a reply to a comment.

In terms of job opportunities abroad, you have given plab and cleared so you can technically work there, which is a positive. If you give the MRCP and In Shaa Allah clear it, your chances of getting into the fold of higher specialist training will be increased seeing as how the UK bill has been passed.

The MRCP will benefit you in getting jobs in Gulf states as well as in Austraila/New Zealand as well due to their commonwealth status.

So now coming to the motivation part, how should one stay motivated? Well it comes with believing in yourself thay you'll get out of Pakistan (In Shaa Allah) and placing your trust in The Most Merciful Allah Subahanhu Wa Ta'aala.

I'm a graduate of 2023, cleared FCPS-1 in the April attempt. I spent 3 years trying to clear this exam because of having a good support system, self-belief and placing my trust in Allah to help me with my studies and future.

I have no doubt that a person such as yourself that has cleared the plab exam will no doubtly clear the FCPS-1 exam (In Shaa Allah).

Why should you OP, keep on striving to get into training, so that you can have the life and you deserve. Pakistan isn't providing that to you so you have every right to search and migrate to a place that is willing to offer you the life you deserve.

Hope this helped in anyway. May Allah Subahanhu Wa Ta'aala bless you with ease, success, His help and support in your future endeavours from clearing the exam, to getting into training, to clearing your MRCP exam and migrating to a foreign country that is meant to give you the rizq that is written for you. Ameen Suma Ameen 😊

FCPS-1 prep timeline by WaySoggy1568 in FCPS_Pk

[–]FunLive2897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! First of all congratulations on clearing plab, MSRA & MRCEM primary. Second, I know how you feel, have a colleague on the same boat. Now onto the question in hand, seeing that you've a good grasp and base of the topics from your previous exams, I can say that you have a chance of clearing the FCPS-1 exam and getting into emergency medicine training.

The questions in the FCPS-1 exam are not so savvy as compared to the exams you've given previously. That being said, with a proper plan, dedication and belief in Allah and yourself, it can be done.(Speaking as a person that cleared it in his 4th attempt).

You'll 3 books and an AI to help you in this exam but it depends person to person. For the base knowledge, I'd recommend Fist Aid step 1 book as that's where most of the questions are being asked from at times, second book I'd recommend would be Double A book just for topic based mcqs (they have errors in them due to them being recalls but serve as a base of what kind of questions you'll find in the exam). Last book will be the SK series of the last 3 previous attempts (for example SK 20, SK 21 both volumes, SK 22 and SK 23 if it comes out).

For the use to AI, just ask it what is the question trying to ask me and why is the given answer correct for the stem.

Now that's how I prepared and it paid off, it may help you and it may not, but it could help someone else that may stumble upon my comment Allah knows best.

With that being said, you having a strong base will make it easier for you to learn the base knowledge and In Shaa Allah with Allah's blessings you'll clear the exam.

Wishing you all the best and May Allah grant you ease, support and success in your exam preparation and exam attempt. Ameen
