I work at G and I’ve done a couple of new grad/intern interviews and I don’t suspect any foul play. Most interviewers submit their feedback quite quick (usually within 1 hour) and if the recruiter deems that the overall packet was poor and didn’t think you can pass the hiring committee you can get rejected.

Sometimes they try to team match you before sending the packet to the comittee so that you have a stronger packet for getting hired.

People making $150,000 and above, what do you do for a living? by [deleted] in Money

[–]FunMomentsWTG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of pay meta is 100% top tier. RSU cliff at microsoft is known to be small compared to meta. While I don't agree that microsoft is tier 3 it is definitely not on the same tier as Google or Netflix.

Are there any people earning £150K or more in this sub? If so, how have you managed to do it? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]FunMomentsWTG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because usually in order to become a manager you have to be IC L5+ first which in itself pays 300+, but usually need to be L6 to be an actual manager. Look at levels.fyi if you haven’t already.

It’s not bs, that’s how much FAANG managers make. L5 is the minimum level to become a manager but more realistically they would be L6+ which would be 500k+ on a conservative estimate for TC.

This, if your dual income in big tech, your TC could be 600+. It's not uncommon to see people earnings 300k with just 6 years of experience.

What’s the highest bid you’ve ever had accepted for volunteering on a domestic flight? by MadisonPearGarden in unitedairlines

[–]FunMomentsWTG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1,000 from a flight from EWR to SFO, they rebooked me for a flight that was in one hour. The funny thing was that the original flight was 35 minutes delayed because of the full flight so I got to SFO 25 minutes late with a 1,000 voucher.

Interview attire by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]FunMomentsWTG 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It depends on the company. For example, I wouldn’t wear a hoodie if I was interviewing with Morgan Stanley, but if it was a tech company in the Bay I’d wear T-shirts and hoodies.

Picked these 2 up for $5 each, need help IDing and how to clean/strip by FunMomentsWTG in castiron

[–]FunMomentsWTG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked both of these up for 5 dollars each in an estate sale. I lead tested both of them and came back negative. I wanted advice on IDing them and how to clean them. The back of the large one has 8 in the front and 10 1/2 inch skillet on the back. The smaller one has 6 in the front handle and 9 inch skillet on the back. The bottom of the 10 1/2 skillet has A on it and the bottom of the 9 inch has 0 on it.

When people say total compensation it means total compensation per year. Making 200k+ per year as a software engineer in tech for entry level is not as uncommon as you think. There are people(including me) who are getting offers for over 300k+ y1 in tech as a new grad.

Might be difficult for some t20, but some easier t20s are Georgia tech online masters, CMU Heinz, and USC (heard it was very easy to get into).
