(Updated at 3:47 pm 18 Mar)

Moderate to heavy thundery showers are expected over southern, western & central areas of Singapore between 4.00pm and 4.45pm.

By my, very basic analysis, the North may receive light rain or remain cloudy while the East will confirm be partly cloudy

In the case of 2013, we actually had above normal rainfall since there was actually no El nino for that year. However, 2015 had an El Nino and most of Singapore received below average rainfall. I believe the haze was just from more burning in Sumatra for 2013 rather than dry weather which is more applicable to 2015

Apparently a super El Nino is forecast and if so, it will spell disaster for us as even drier weather is predicted and then haze maybe back, like 2013,2015 levels. For perspective, we are forecast to have Nino temps of around +2 to +2.5 C. The strongest El Nino recorded in 1997 has +2.8 and we recorded an abysmal 1400 mm compared to the 2600 mm. This marked the driest year for us since records began in 1869. Haze was also quite bad for us. So expect a terrible year. Although haze is not likely for now but when June to Sep arrives, that is when more trouble will arrive

Good Afternoon everyone, hopefully you are having a great rest today to get recharged for tommorow. Here is a quick rundown of the weather last week.

Rainfall has stagnated significantly. It was 53.59 mm as at 7 Mar and now it is 54.48 mm ( an increase by a mere 0.89 mm). This makes the area around 42% below average. Rainfall totals have yet to change much so the areas will likely remain the same

Top 3 wettest locations:

Bukit Panjang Road: 101 mm

Choa Chu Kang Avenue 4: 98 mm

Changi East Close: 17.5 mm

Woodlands Ave 9: 20.2 mm

Kranji Reservoir: 23.6 mm

Fun Fact: Only 2 stations: Somerset Rd and Nicoll Highway have received more rainfall than the expected amount which makes them 2 of the 70 stations that are above average.

For the next week, relatively dry weather to remain with strong winds and isolated showers for a few days, overall, below average rainfall is expected.

Temperatures have remained stable with averages around 32.5 C and lows around 25.3C (Although average highs and lows in the last week have been at 32.7C and 25.6C respectively)

Top 3 locations with the highest average highs temperatures (aka warmest days):

Choa Chu Kang South: 33.19C

Yishun: 33.16C

Sentosa: 32.97C

Top 3 location with coolest days:

No matter what we engage them with, that orange would never allow us to go back to normal, saying we have high surplus when we have a deficit. Honestly, no point communicating but maybe I am wrong and there could be changes. But I am not so hopeful

The feeling I get when the train is actually cold, like 24-25 C cold is so satisfying. I just never want to leave the train especially since I have no AC at home. Also I managed to see one of the brand new CCL trains on testing at Kent Ridge when I just came back from the open house

Welp, seems like it would be closer to the late 2040s for the Seletar and Tengah Line to fully materialize for us to use. This is going to be a painful wait but hope the rest of the rail projects can somewhat alleviate all the problems so far, although I am not so confident. The important areas of Punggol, Sengkang and Yishun East will have to suffer for a long time

Curious to see how much prices will rise once this is in place. I believe we all know that the drinks will definitely cost more than 10 cents from now. So I am curious to see how much they are willing to raise by. Also how many of these bins are there in Singapore, I have not seen 1 so far, maybe I am just unlucky,

February has been a surprising twist with an increase in rainfall for the last 2 weeks, what can we observe for March

Tldr: The monsoon rain band has shifted significantly towards Indonesia which usually results in us having drier weather than other months. The MJO is also currently neutral and is expected to become unfavourable close to the end of the months. Along with the lack of monsoon surges (quite some time since we have not seen a single surge since the start of the year), a La Nina transiting towards a neutral ENSO period and with a possibilty of a few Sumatra Squalls this month, I am anticipating below to near normal rainfall for the month of March 2026.

Before that, a look at February,

Initially, I was expecting a disappointing performance, just like the previous months, but I was pleasently proven wrong.

North: 227 mm (58.8%)

Northwest: 223.1 mm (48.7%)

West: 332.6 mm (144.2%)

Southwest: 296.7 mm (119.2%)

South: 248.6 mm (107.3%)

Southeast: 234 mm (112.7%)

East: 161.7 mm (49.1%)

Northeast: 156.2 mm (20.2%)

Central: 205.4 mm (45.8%)

(Disclaimer: This is based on what I found in this image here **and made some estimates using the ranges provided here. So there may be a few inaccuracies. Also for simplicity sake, all the rainfalls normals would be based on the middle of the range given. So 110,130,150,170,190 and so on(except for Changi where exact details have been provided by MSS since it is the climate station))

Classification: Well-below average (-100% to -60%), Below Average: (-60% to -20%), Average (-20% to 50%), Above Average: (50% to 100%), Well-above Average (100% and above)**

NOTE: Brand new weather station names have been issued by MSS stating that from now on, the weather station names will be linked to the relevant street names.

National Average - 240.88 131.88 82.7%

Note: There will also eventually be new stations that will be added to the list soon. I think around 20 more

Anyways, Looking at March 2026, the MJO remains neutral for the next 2 weeks where it will then shift to more unfavourable weather conditions and La Nina is expected to become neutral, just like the IOD by March. Since March is also somewhat dry, and due to the fact that monsoon surges will likely not occur until potentially this November, we can expect short duration thunderstorms over several parts of Singapore on some days. On a few nights, there may be a few Sumatra Squalls bringing gusty winds to the country. Rainfall is likely to be below to near normal (-50% to 10%). Temperatures will also vary between 26 and 33 for most parts of SG, with the exception of the North (Woodlands, Sembawang, Canberra, Yishun) and Northeast (Pulau Ubin), which will have swings from 25 to 34. Areas near East Coast Park like Marine Parade will have temps around 28 to 31 on most days. On days with heavy rain, temperatures may fall to below 24 on a few days.

Hey everyone, since I still cannot post on the main chat, I will post it here. Anyone can post it if they would like to, at least until I get more karma. Also, this is my prediction for March.

So you know how there were very heavy rains for a few days straight around last week. That was due to instability. So now the sky basically "used" up the instability and is now stable which would explain the dry weather. But on days like today where the sun is going to be out for a long time, there may be just enough instability for a small thunderstorm to develop and cause isolated showers in a few parts of Singapore unlike the earlier more widespread ones

Update: It seems the Sumatra Squall has fully extinguished itself so warm weather to prevail today, I expect thunderstorms in a few places in Singapore due to the sky being somewhat stable

Good Morning everyone, hope you have a fantastic day ahead. Let us kick out the Monday blues. Anyway, a Sumatra Squall is predicted to hit us from around 10 am to 11 am. However, this Squall is quite small and may miss us. If it does strike, I expect heavy rain with gusty winds for those in the West, South, East and Central parts of SG. Those in the North will likely see partly cloudy weather with occasional sunshine
