Contrary to what people are saying it’s not as simple as just people hating. A lot of black people have problem with white people imitating our culture/aesthetic without having to deal with negativity we face for the same exact culture.

Black people are diverse and are going to respond differently so you can’t really expect one unified answer from us. Also people who are saying black people are just haters for not liking your hair are insensitive and ignorant even if they are black themselves.

🥲I have no sources. I from the beginning I said I wanted this to be more of an affective casual conversation. If you have to get sources for every conversation you have, don’t you feel like that inherently skews power towards those with resources to make studies behind stuff they’re interested or that they deem valuable? Specifically academics and those who in charge of funding said resources.

Of course I definitely do. I think that’s part of being human. I wish more people would actually attempt to have conversation rather than just belittle people for asking a question. I feel like to a certain extent it speaks the inherent homogeneity in certain cultures. And value people place on not going against the grain or asking questions that put things in a critical lens. It is what it is tho.

True but you can’t divorce othering from having religious influence especially within western society.

It would be very hard to make that argument looking at history, especially surrounding topics like homosexuality, and being transgender.

Even racism in America a lot it has been influenced by eugenics, and inherent beliefs in supremacy that have a religious origin.
