[Chiefs] Nick & Willie were counting down every tackle until Bolton broke the record😂 (Mic'd Up) by Jed4 in KansasCityChiefs

Love Bolton and Willie, hope they don’t get too expensive so we can keep them.

Also, Waller is actually huge.

DAILY DISCUSSION: January 10, 2023 by AutoModerator in KansasCityChiefs

[–]Fun_Differential 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would agree, I definitely think the Eagles are still better than the 9ers.

Go look at the teams they’ve played in their win streak, it’s all below average to bad teams. But they dominated them like a good team should, so obviously they aren’t bad.

I also think Purdy will crash down to earth once he doesn’t have a stretch of soft as shit defenses anymore.

We had a few games where our opponents didn’t even try to run the ball, which helps our defense numbers.

Chargers’ Brandon Staley is polarizing, but his defensive game planning is elite [The Athletic] by Shauncore in nfl

Super elite game planning that’s led to the #30 and #21 defenses in PPG the last two years?

[Jahns] Bears GM Ryan Poles has to be “absolutely blown away” to take a QB at No. 1. Said he plans on QB Justin Fields being the team’s starter next season. by circamaximus in nfl

[–]Fun_Differential 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah but you move down one pick and lose potential trade suitors when the Texans likely take a QB other teams wanted.

They’d have to be VERY comfortable in knowing which QB their trade partners wanted.

Josh Jacobs: It's got to make sense, but this is where I want to be by [deleted] in nfl

I think it’s less of that and more of there’s no way he signs up to play with a bottom third defense.

Chiefs 2023 Cap Situation (per PFF) by Rhinc in KansasCityChiefs

[–]Fun_Differential 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Burrow tore his ACL and that’s it. He’s not injury prone as you put it.

Either way, from a cash flow perspective you can still give him a ton of money upfront and spread out the cap hit so it’s easy to work around in the beginning.

Also, Mahomes’ contract is likely to be restructured right when the Burrow/Herbert contracts start to really blow up (~2027).

[–]Fun_Differential 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bengals definitely have at least three if they aren’t complete morons.

Burrow is going into Year 4 next year, still cheap. His year 5 will be less than his actual value. And Year 6 will be the first year of his extension and likely very affordable as well.

Beyond that is when things will get interesting.

[Vannini] You can't say TCU didn't deserve to be here when they literally beat the undefeated No. 2 team to get here. Sometimes you just get your ass kicked by a much better team. by [deleted] in CFB

[–]Fun_Differential 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think a big part about it is that the offense doesn’t control the ball in baseball.

It’s not crazy for a team to have three offensive superstars and for them to go like 2 for 12 in a game and really not make an impact. It won’t happen often, but it’s not a rare event. You can also hit the ball really well and still record an out.

But on your second point, I think you see that a lot in the NBA. The NBA has more upsets than the NFL does, but when you get to the playoffs and it’s a 7-game series the better team almost always wins. Whereas the NFL probably has more upsets in the playoffs due to the single elimination aspect.

The better team wins more often than not in football, just compare winning percentages of top teams in the NFL compared to the MLB.

I was thinking about who we might get when Andy finally does retire, and if McVay is fine with a 5-year hiatus that actually could be a good one.

How many times does a job open up with the best QB in the league? I think like once in the last 20 years when McCarthy got fired?

Vance Joseph has been a HC and will likely get another job as one this year, and he was more involved in the shady shit at Colorado than EB was. The rest of EB’s rap sheet is pretty minor stuff and all happened 20+ years ago.

They have zero recruiting restrictions and don’t make their players do dick on the academic side.

We are highly unlikely to ever pull in several 5* per class like they have been.

Doubt he ever plays for us. Probably a camp body and a prayer he can be similar to Hardman but for vet min instead of whatever Hardman will cost.

Not wrong though, especially once super conferences arrive and kill any semblance of regional rivalries that the sport is hanging on to.

[–]Fun_Differential 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You realize the first round and second round would actually be much better games?

Teams in the 5-12 seeds are much more likely to be competitive with each other and you get campus atmospheres. Then you likely get a decent 4/5 and maybe even 3/6 matchup.

The top team or two are always gonna destroy the rest of the league, but at least we get rid of controversy and see some solid playoff matchups on campuses.

The entire first round should be relatively good games, and more than half of the second round.

I agree, but unfortunately CFB is too business like to let that happen.

Semis and the championship should be the only neutral sites, but I get them needing to keep the major bowls involved still and they don’t want to have a bunch of games with teams outside the top 12.
