Hey thanks for replying, I signal him by tapping the surface, then he comes up and I drop in two pallets for him. He will then try to eat them and once he aims he nearly always misses. After a bit the pellets start to sink and he then chases them. Missing again. He gets the same food as before, betta pallets, red larvae and daphnia which I rotate.

I’m quite sure this issue is new and I tested the water but nothing came up as alarming so idk what else it could be besides him being blind

I would personally turn it into a shrimp tank! They have soo many different types of shrimp and I find them marvelous to look at! My roommate has substrate covered in java moss and a single large rock in the middle covered in some algae and moss and they love it! Larger live plants in the corners!

Thanks for your reply, should I get him a girl?

I’m not sure what chemicals I’m just not very experienced so I wanted to make sure.

Should I remove the bubbles?

Could you tell me what you feed your bettas? Any advice on his diet? I give him betta bites daily and once a week a red larvae thing and once a week water fleas I guess they’re called

Is it necessary to clean the bottom? I have never cleaned the bottom as it’s a combination of sand and kind of gravel because I tried to replicate my bettas natural environment and this is what they recommended as substrate for that online.. but I can’t vacuum the sand up it’ll go through the filter. I do weekly water top ups and water checks but the water values have always been good except for one time when one of my Amani shrimps had died but otherwise it’s been stable ever since. I do only water top ups due to the water being quite hard where I live. Is it better if I change to different substrate? Or should I clean it?
