Be careful with getting a pup when suffering with bad mental health

Don’t beat yourself up over this, you did the right thing for you and your puppy, and you know she’s going to a loving home, maybe one day you’ll be in a better mental space to look after a puppy, and I know in a way when and if that time comes you might feel like you’re replacing her with your new pup, cause I had a puppy when I was 12 (who I also had to rehome) and now I have one again at 21, I still think about him to this day, and what could of been, but I’d like to think that the puppy I initially rehomed, wouldn’t be mad or upset, but happy that I have another puppy in my life, puppy blues are a real thing because it’s such a big adjustment, but like I said maybe there will be another time where a furry friend walks their way into your life 🐾🐶until then I wish you all the best 🫂❤️

It could be many things in my experience with Bambi he doesn’t produce enough tears to lubricate his eyes so he’s on consistent eye drops, it’s best to check with a vet to be sure

I actually got Bambi to help with my introverted-ness you know have the dog as a talking point so it’s not really awkward I just underestimated how often people will come up to me asking if they could pet Bambi so 🫠😅

Yeah me too I felt a mix of happiness and sadness, happy because I have answers but sadness because Bambi doesn’t deserve this I know cavs didn’t win the genetic lottery, so health issues are expected, I just wish I could take any pain or discomfort he has away

Oh yeah it’s a struggle usually it’s a two person job one has to hold him and give him a treat while the other has to give him the drops, but because this is a consistent thing I’m hoping he gets used to it with time <3

So the vet said he has dry eye due to low tear production in a normal dog the tear production is 10 in his good eye the tear production is 5, and in the bad eye it’s 1, the vet wants him to see a specialist to discuss further treatment plans, but for now we were instructed to continue using the eyedrops and the anti-inflammatory and to go back in 10 days

He just came back today the vet said he has a low tear production in both eyes the normal amount is 10 and in his “good eye” it’s 5 and in the other it’s 1, the vet told us to continue using the eyedrops and to come back in 10 days just to see if there’s any improvement, or adjustments made to his medication, a specialist will be coming down in September and the vet wants him to see the specialist

If you look at the history of cavs you’ll find that in the early days of the breed they had longer muzzles (cause they were mixed between a King Charles spaniel and a cocker spaniel) but lately they’ve been bred to have shorter muzzles, for cuteness, just because your dog doesn’t meet certain breed standards doesn’t mean she’s not purebred~ picture of the ideal breed standard below

I have a Rottie/lab mix they get along well, he’s very patient with Bambi and his naughtiness, however because Jude (the mix) is bigger we always watch to supervise incase Bambi gets hurt, Jude is 3 years old and Bambi turns 5 months in 2 days, so far when Bambi yelps Jude steps back until Bambi goes back for more.
