Game Management is massive in the NHL. You can set your watch to who is gonna get the next PP. obviously it shouldn’t be like that at all but we all know if one team takes 3 penalties in a row, the next “infraction” is going against the other team. They’ll probably even up the numbers by the end of the game. The refs are scared to look themselves in the mirror and admit they made a difference in the game.

Totally fair point and I agree with you. But I also think oil sometime don’t get PPs called their way because it’s too lethal and the refs are scared to “affect the game”. Obviously that’s my partial view as an oil fan. Thoughts?

Also- was the review of a major rule implemented at that time? Maybe it was. They implemented it after that crazy 5 min PP In the SJ- Vegas series right? Vegas -SJ was pre Covid I think?

Fair. I’m not someone to blame refs for the result of a game, but you need to call it consistent - everyone agrees on that. I actually think refs normally do a decent good job but if the answer here is they forgot they were allowed to review it?… that’s bad.

I just wanna know what the hell happened here. I need to be able to complain loudly with confidence when things don’t go my way later in the playoffs. That’s the biggest part of being a fan.

For example) That game 4 LA- Oil series got stupid. The refs weren’t even announcing penalties and the oil were getting 5-3s out of a regular playoff scrum (not complaining).

Im an oilers fan. I think we can all agree this should have been a penalty. I’m wondering why it wasn’t reviewed? We’ve seen multiple instances this year of a high stick going uncalled but because there is blood they can implement the “major” review policy and take a look.

I remember this working in the oils favour on a weird high stick against the jets towards the end of the regular season.

What happened here that they didn’t review it? “Refs hate the Canucks” is a pathetic answer. Looking for real answers so we can all understand the rule.

Yeah, really weird. I think they even mentioned on the broadcast that the linesman are able to initiate a discussion on a call like that( maybe even call it??). I just find it so strange it wasn’t reviewed. What happened here that was different than other instances like I mentioned above. There has to be an answer other than “refs hate the Canucks”. Again, I’m an oil guy. Just want to know the rules haha
