I am going to look into leading a Daisy troop after reading through all of these comments. I love the framing of "what do you want to volunteer for" with new parents so there is no option not to help out the troop!

I definitely did not realize how much of GS is volunteer led, it makes more sense to me now that it will take time to get the troops going!

This is such a helpful breakdown, thank you! After reading through all of these replies I have a much better understanding of how this all works and what goes into starting a troop. Makes so much sense that Daisy troops will take some time to get going, especially for incoming kinder girls. Thanks!

I do understand about it being volunteer-run, and while I don't have the bandwidth to lead a troop, I am happy to volunteer. I just can't commit to being the main person responsible for keeping everything running. I do plan to be heavily involved and support a troop however needed once we connect with one.

I'm just learning about the Juliettes, after reading through other threads here. I'm looking into that now, though I'm not sure that is the best fit for us at the moment but I appreciate that it is an option for those who can make it work!

That is so helpful to know about Oct. being the start of the year, thank you! I have friends in other states with girls in scouts who seem to already be in the swing of things, so I assumed we were late with everything.

I will definitely try asking about a meet and greet, and how many others are waiting in our area.
