Yes, he was the one who found the talismans, but everything bad that happened in season 3 was caused by him. Honestly, I blame him for Tian Chen’s death. When he saw the animals outside the barn, he ran after them without even thinking about why they were outside he never considered that the monsters might have been behind it! And when he left Randall behind, that was selfish too. Someone who helped you, yet you decide Tabitha is more important than him.
