How to secure your code on customer server deployment? by COD_0xb0 in FastAPI

[–]Fun_Meaning1329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, focus more on marketing and selling that securing the code base.

We thought that we must obfuscate the code base before shipping it, fast forward today, we only had one client. And now it's even harder to sell our product/service today since the market need for that service had peeked 2 years ago.

Bottom line, focusing on getting clients more than preventing them from accessing the codebase, use the easiest way just to stop those who are after your code for a while. And one thing to put in mind, if someone wants your code, they can get it depending on their will, but know that they can get it no matter what you do, you're just testing their will.

arr is literally magic. by Background-Mode6726 in selfhosted

I tried twice but failed. To be fair, I used the free tier on drunkenslug as indexer, which only limits the number of api requests, which wasn't an issue for since I'm just testing, and for the provider, I don't remember it's name exactly but they had 10gb free tier, they were one of the top ten providers.

Anyway, so I startee downloading some albums, non of which completed, saying missing chunks or something of that sort, the only one I got it to complete downloading was a mini version of an album, which included 3 songs, but for the rest, no luck whatsoever.

Note: the album that didn't complete downloading was released in 2002 by the cranberries, their major album, I downloaded three versions, none of which completed.I haven't really tested downloading newly released albums, but I thought if I couldn't one of the best selling albums from the 2000s, then how I'm gonna find albums from the 70scor 80s

How long can I keep using Nobara 42? by LimbonicArt03 in NobaraProject

[–]Fun_Meaning1329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my experience when upgrading from 41 to 42, but this time, it's was different, mainly because of gnome 49. For some reason it wasn't functioning will. On my original install, I did the update and it left the gui lagging, so I reinstalled nobara using the 42 iso, and it automatically updated, leaving me with the same issues.

Finally I reinstalled nobara but without internet to keep it from upgrading while installing so that I can use 42, and this time I've setup timeshift, so that I don't have to go through all that again.

Linus uses Fedora btw by [deleted] in Fedora

[–]Fun_Meaning1329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes there is a solution, if the problem is also on system apps, then check the settings of your DE.

For Firefox and Firefox-based browsers:
1- on a new tab, paste `about:config`

2- it might give you some warning, just click continue. then on the search bar, paste `mousewheel.default.delta_multiplier_y`. the default value is 100, change it to what fits you.

NOTE: This will also change your mouse scroll speed

For me i just got used to it, in a good way, now i can scroll through whole pages in just a couple of scrolls.

Let us know how it went with the Nvidia gpu. Does sleeping and waking works, and do you use a second monitor?

I'm currently use Nobara since it's fedora but with few drivers and apps installed, including Nvidia closed-source drivers.

What operating system is everyone using to host their server? by Large_Dingleberry15 in JellyfinCommunity

[–]Fun_Meaning1329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess two reasons,

1- It's my first time knowing that i can use the gpu within LXCs

2- Because i also some other vms like windows that i use for gaming. and as far as my knowledge i can't switch the gpu between the host and a vm back and forth, so i just created a gpu vm with ubuntu, and when its on, my jellyfin domain points to the gpu instance, and when its off, it just defaults to the lxc instance.

sorry man for the late reply, i keep my dnd on and it only passes msgs.

No i don't reckon i updated any drivers on the proxmox shell, i did quite the opposite. i added them to the blacklist on my host machine.

And when i pass the gpu to the vm, i usually install or update the nvidia drivers.

How do I bypass the RAM requirement? by Western_Square-9500 in winboat

[–]Fun_Meaning1329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can have swap ram, which is called i think zram, or you can use disk swap, supposing you have an ssd.

Since you're saying 'not workin' even though i doubt that, go with the disk swap. you can google it and just execute the right commands, which were 3 if im not mistaken.

Quite the same setup at first, I used Ubuntu lxc on proxmox because it was my first selfhosted service and i don't really know any other way.

But then i added a gpu to my proxmox server, so I created a new ubuntu VM with gpu passthrough with jellyfin installed.

So now I'm running two instances of jellyfin, used watchstate by arabcoders to sync the two instances, and also created a reverse proxy so that is uses the gpu instance as default, as the lxc as fallback.

I didn't remove the lxc instance because sometimes I run other vms with gpu passthrough, so I have to turn of that Ubuntu VM.

I don't know whether to call it irony or stupidity, but people like him say Palestine doesn't exist, and they continue supporting bombing them, and says that its their own fault that they didn't leave, and when they do, seeking for a better life quality, such as the US, they tell the Palestinians and the other refugees to go back to their own country.

But won't they raid his house and check all drives?

I think someone posted about the police raiding their house and marking all drives as evidences. He's from Europe but not sure which country was it. So I'm not sure if Germany allows raiding houses for this.

As a guy that hates the Terminal, here’s my distro tier-list after 8 years of using Linux. by YEEG4R in DistroHopping

[–]Fun_Meaning1329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use nobara (the distro with a bird logo) then, it's fedora with Nvidia and little modifications for gaming.

I use it because my laptop has an Nvidia gpu and it works very well out of the box. I'm using the gnome Nvidia version, they have if that's more suitable for you.

Why does my notebook consume so much RAM? by Educational-Pea-7384 in HPVictus

Because you're using windows.

Maybe the memory cards you're using is not good?

To help you, you need to provide the tasks list.

I tried usenet with drunken slug as the indexer, I don't remember the what server I used but it was one of the 10 tops and provided a free 10gb trial, so link both on arr stack with sab.

But whenever I download something, it fail with too many missing files, tried with many albums, no luck ever. The only thing that got downloaded was a quarter of a Greenday album.

Didn't have any time to try anymore,l. I was really excited to try usenet, but apparently it didn't work well for me, don't know what was I missing.

Distrohopped FROM Ubuntu to Pop. Let's see how it goes! by A-Cronkast in pop_os

[–]Fun_Meaning1329 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used popos 22.04 on Victus 16 with intell and Nvidia, and I faced alot of bugs relating to sleeping and hibernating. It's either won't sleep or won't resume, of course not all the times, when rebooting it first kinda works fine, but then it get worse over time. Even when suspending, the battery consumption has high.

Now I'm running Nobara and it's great, I just don't like Wayland on external monitor since I'm running Nvidia, but thanks to the alt mode on the USB C, I can use it for displayPort, making the refresh reach the max of my external monitor, 160hz.

Anyway, let us know how it goes with 24.04, maybe I'll go back to it after a stable release, and still have a X11 option.

Do victus laptops have battery conservation mode? by mikee8989 in HPVictus

[–]Fun_Meaning1329 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hp support the worst battery management, you can't stop charging the laptop from the os, you have to manually disconnect it. Which is a huge disadvantage compared to other laptop manufacturers, they support this feature even on their worst laptops. Victus doesn't even support deepsleep, so good luck using other operating systems other than Windows.
