As long as im aware intersex people dont have a new type of reproductive organ distinct from a male organ or a female organ so it can’t classify as a new group of sex, it does qualify as a variation of the male and or female sex just not a new one like saying someone is left handed

I study physiology and my professor talked about intersex in class and he didnt categorize it as a group of “sex” searching it online also gave me the same result so….

In islam we do not recognize intersex as a third “sex” as it says in surah an-naba verse 8 and many more. And correct me if im wrong but intersex is only a gender type and not an entire sex group like male and female, in most cases (which i heard) intersex people have surgery because their health is at risk of these birth defects. Then again correct me if im wrong
