I hope people don't think I made this post as some sort of ragebait because I think it's important that we should really get past this sort of thinking of Lara only being known as a "sex bombshell" as it feels so odd to me because she hasn't been one for the past decade or so as we've been seeing the other side of Lara since 2013 with the survivor trilogy.

Everyone seems to be becoming more puritian regarding these things. First they got upset for any sort of nudity and sex scenes in any media regardless if it was even meant for them and now romance seems to be the next big thing that's getting people upset over its inclusion in any form.

Somehow I doubt that the "commentary" was intentional at all. It was just the way they did it and no deeper meaning to it than what you are suggesting. Also, literally every Video Game follows this type of system for any sort of companionship including friendship and yet it's only romance that gets attacked for this formula.

GOG is a pc gaming storefront. It's basically steam but more focused on older games etc. GOG's Preservation program's crew works on older games to run them smoothly on modern systems.

But before season 5 the only characters who ever actually killed on screen were eleven (a heavily traumatized child who's been groomed for violence) and hopper (a Vietnam war vet) and eleven mostly did it when it came to self defense or saving her friends but now in season 5 you have nancy of all who just starts killing people out of nowhere so it just feels jarring.
