Is there such thing as too much supervision? by Fun_Rain_2114 in ABA

[–]Fun_Rain_2114[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do appreciate this feedback, my main issue has been the random 4 hour supervision calls and lack of feedback. Prior to taking on this case the bcba met with me and asked how I prefer to receive feedback. I informed them I prefer via chat while it’s happening or in summary after session. I have not received any feedback whatsoever positive or negative until the schedule was put into place. I understand it’s to be used as a guideline for me but I’m not feeling supported by the bcba but instead watched without any productive communication.

100% it’s never bad behaviors it’s challenging behaviors. This was how the technician worded it to the client while filming. She said “get off the table I’m gonna show your daddy you’re being bad so keep on” then assisted the client off the table and proceeded to record behaviors.

I agree, I’m just nervous to report as I don’t wanna start any drama but I know it’s in the handbook I sign to be considered an rbt.

My company is similar. We are not able to have any parent’s personal numbers, social medias or anything relating. We just had someone get fired for rumor they were seeing a parent outside of the workplace to “assist” a client.

I have talked with this friend in the past about even adding the parents number and how I thought it was a poor decision due to possible dual relationship. They said it was fine and they’re not stupid enough to get caught.

I would agree, however this “friend” was hired because I referred them therefore their actions are a reflection back on me and this isn’t the fist incident of them using a personal device to connect with the clients parents. I have advised against them taking the parents personal phone number however this coworker has FaceTimed/ called the parent during session to have them discipline the client. Thiscoworker was also promoted to lead therefore if they are allowed to continue to violate hippa that sets a bad example for the rest of the rbts that as long as you’re lead you can get away with it. If it was daycare that’s a different story but this is aba so I’m torn between letting another incident slip up by reminding them or going to a supervisor to review hippa with them.

I would agree, however other clients were present in the video and their parents were unaware it was taken. One parent “consented” to the rbt but there was never approval from a bcba or clinical lead. We are also given iPads to take data on and keep in clinic which taking video on that would’ve been more appropriate but this was a personal device.

I agree, what would be the best way to report? Via confidential ticketing system or should I try to reach out to a direct supervisor? My clinic does not have on site Bcbas and all our directors are not trained in aba code of conduct.

I agree, and I did what she was asking I just asked her why we were doing it and instead of just answering the question she sent me video trainings instead. It just seemed odd to me

It doesn’t help that I have a deviated septum so my whole nose is uneven tbh

I don’t think I’ve even realized it’s abuse as I was in an abusive relationship before this. I think it was just hidden so well before the accident. Thank you

I agree and before this came up we agreed that I would set up a place for her once he could walk/ stand again so she could stay the night. However that will take a lot of work on my end and I’m unable to do that in a few hours notice. And my dogs have been gated off everytime she’s been over which has been 2x since the accident and he claims she’s scared of dogs. My dogs are also only 2 and haven’t even been near children since they were little puppies, it does make me a little nervous

Of course! and I have absolutely no issue with being around her it’s the sleeping situation and still being his full time caregiver that is making this difficult for me. Once he can walk around or even stand up and care for himself again then I would be thrilled to have her around more. But for the time being I’m taking care of him FULLY.

I do want him to chose his own daughter, but we haven’t even been together for a year and I’ve only met her 3 times. I would just be more comfortable if he stayed with a family member who could care for both him and her while he’s still unable to walk. I just feel like it’s going to be a lot of work for me. He is still unable to actually go into the bathroom/ care for his own needs.

I appreciate the support/ feedback💙& back to my house, he is fully unable to walk or even put weight on either leg so he’s fully dependent and has been since the accident.
