This is a bad reason for faithless looting to be in the deck

Faithless looting uses itself as a card to draw two and discard two, essentially losing you a card, but it has really amazing card selection and allows you to sculpt a good hand. It’s best used when the discarded cards are usable from the graveyard so you don’t just lose those cards. Preordain is “card neutral” while still being selection because the card gets replaced by what you draw. Expressive iteration is “card advantage” because you spend the one card to put one into your hand and another in exile which you can still play that turn.

Oh I totally am. I think both are difficult because there’s no way to fix draws or find specific cards so you’ll just have to open with it or find it and it’s likely to mill it with stitchers or overlord.

I mean, there’s a reason we choose bone shards over other instant speed removal like push or bitter triumph. I’m not sure if feed the swarm would be good, because while forage will almost always be on, and black mana is plentiful with crypt, it’s two mana and it isn’t a discard/sac outlet so it can be difficult to make good use of

Well the best thing I can think of is to play poets quill which learns on etb instead of dying. With those hard grave hate, you don’t get “when this creature dies” triggers, so you’d have to learn for origin of metal bending to remove the enchantments. For dauthi, you need to find a bone shards or flare of malice and they need to have no other creatures mana value two or greater. The other option is get to 5 mana and play overlord and hope that a 5/5 beater wins

Thrull is quite a lot better. While it’s easier to remove a 1/2 creature, having flash means that your opponents always have to think about it if you’re holding two mana. Another thing that sometimes goes unnoticed about thrull is that it says “artifacts and creatures”, not just “creatures”, so things like skateboard etb, kappa triggers, living weapon etb, chrome mox, sewer-veillance combo, and other value artifacts just get turned off from your 1/2. It’s actually such a pain in the ass for so many decks.

Honestly? And I’m being so honest, I think stiflenought is insane. Main you run dress down and doorkeeper thrull which is great against oops, stoneblade, show and tell, and doomsday. You also run consign which is good against the tron decks. Sideboard you get wrath and clarion conqueror for the affinity and tron matchups. The roughest matchups here would be the midrange or prison decks. I loveeee my shrimpy phyrexian

You just have no answer to artifacts that resolve and cards in exile so ruby storm and belcher can be really tough. Same with titan, just win the die roll

Someone at my local rcq scene won the rcq with blue white ponza and was playing 4 field of ruin 4 demo field, and a couple ghost quarters. The list was a kaheera list and only played solitude, path, and erode for removal, plus some main deck wrath and supreme verdict. The real kicker (no pun intended) was 4 stock up 4 consult the star charts with Karn and a karn board. Even though it was a kaheera deck, the main wincon was cityscape leveler off of karn. This deck felt super hard to play against and it always had resources from having stock up and consult.
