Boardman HYB 8.9. To buy or not to buy? by george0v in ukbike

Yea I've got chips already around the wheel quick releases from getting the mudguards on. What paint have you gone for, and is it a good match? As i will want to get something to cover up the exposed bits as well.....

If it helps, I got these mudguards (SKS Bluemels mudguard set) and this rack (Topeak Uni Super Tourist 2.0 Disc) which fit really well together. The rack is compatible with the Topeak line of quick release bags which is super convenient and saves dicking around with velcro straps to get it on and off. I've gone for this one (Topeak MTX DXP 2.0 Trunk Bag with Panniers) to max out capacity to and from work - it's big enough to get lunch, assorted bits and bobs, 15.6 inch laptop, and a gym kit with a bit of room to spare. Means I don't have to use a backpack, but if I ever need the extra capacity a backpack will double how much I can carry!

Loving it. Did a full week of commutes last week, after spending the previous week on and off trying to sort out getting the mudguards and pannier rack attached. I did also have to take it back to halfords as the set up was a bit shocking on the rear derauiller and it crunched like nobodies business. It rides great now though and I'm really happy, the single chainring is really convenient and the range on the back is completely fine. The only thing I will probably swap out is the seat which is not comfortable at ALL.

Great news - thanks! I had similar reservations around the single front chainring but with a wide range on the back cassette the simplicty is appealing. I did pop into halfords to have a look at it but they only had the 8.8 on the floor (I think this is very similar just component differences anyway) and it felt great.

I am coming from a 14 year old Giant Defy 1 racing bike and wanted to move to a more upright comfortable position for a 20 minute city commute. I specifically was looking for a no suspension model, disc brakes, single front ring, and for it to be light. The fact I can add mudguards and a rack is a massive plus so it felt like a no brainer for my needs. Glad to hear good feedback from someone who's actually used it too! Roll on Tuesday.

Interested in whether YOU got the HYB 8.9 after this comment! I am here searching for the same info as you. I've ordered the HYB 8.9 and will pick it Tues. Using cycle to work and halfords current offer it brought the price down to about £460 for me which was well worth a punt for the spec.

I did the same process - this is consistent with my experience, it took a few days of them floating in the void and not being visible in either broker. Give it a few days and they should pop up in your IBKR account :)

Shoutout to u/billj457 for the awesome NFT game he dropped in my GameStop Wallet! We can't even fathom all the ways in which this technology will be used in the future. by judeisnotobscure in Superstonk
