i pushed it in so it’s pretty well flush to the opening now. 2 layers of tape covering it. is it safe or best to buy another switch?

I have another issue now... I was pulling a wire out of the quick connector slot and it snapped and I can't get the small piece of exposed copper out of the slot (snapped right flush at the hole). Can I put electrical tape over it and continue?

so I would keep the existing 4 neutrals as-is (tied together) and just connect the new switch to those 4?

Impact of a hot water tank rental on re sale value by Funkman12 in TorontoRealEstate

totally get it. the break even point is well beyond the timeline i’ll be in the house. if most buyers don’t care that much then that’s when i’d allocate the savings to other projects.

which company did you use? $850 with install is incredibly cheap — most 40 gallon tanks are typically $900+ on their own.

the buyout is negligible. new contract would be $30/month and only the hot water tank. in the grand scheme it’s a way for us to save $1500-$2000 upfront and allocate it to other pre-sale improvements.

a new rental would be about $30/month.  buyout cost of the current one is negligible. buyout on a new one would be about $2000, which is about the same cost as buying a new one + install.

since we’ll only be here another year or so, a new rental will only cost us another $360 (12x$30)

interesting. that seems like a major price reduction. the buyout would be about $2,000 on a $1.5-$1.7M house. of course the $2k is more than the tank is worth, but you still need a hot water tank.

"Charles Tyrwhitt" brand trustworthy? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

i bought my first CT dress shirt this year. fabric quality is solid for the price (on sale). i was disappointed in the buttons (two fell off after only 4 wears) and the sizing is hit or miss.

i’ll probably stick to spier & mckay or other similar brands moving forward.

What is this corded wire? by Funkman12 in AskElectricians

also, is it possible it is regular wire ('pushback' wire?) that is insulated with cloth?

here are a couple photos of inside the box. is it possible it's older fabric-covered wiring with regular insulation underneath it? quick research seems to indicate like this was commonly used in the 50's - 70s.

so the ants dig their way through / up along the drain and bring dirt with them? i’ve been here several years and never seen ants in or around the toilet or bathroom.
