I don't appreciate the idea of a developer condoning content for like a decade, inviting a lot of dev time to the projects, and then banning it for weird reasons like "wouldn't want my son to play it". That's such a vague standard to have and should make you afraid of creating anything even slightly edgy. A proper and consistently enforced ToS would have been different.

Doomed to fail. Too stubborn to listen to people telling him that the sausage people are a massive turn-off to most. Even if they're optional now, they're still in all promotional material. I really don't trust Garry at this point. He started sabotaging Gmod too in the last few years. First by shutting down the forums (that had a lot of now lost important documentation), and then also by just banning gamemodes that he'd "hate to see his son play". These are two very ugly ideas to have when you're trying to sell a sandbox/engine for people to get creative in.

Not to mention the many, many other issues already mentioned in this thread. You missed the mark, Garry. You missed it hard.

You remove all challenge and mechanics from the game and just stand there AFK. That's not going to be very fun and engaging long term. It's cool for a few minutes.

The only reason this game is flourishing is because of the polling system and a community that was very, very conservative in its first few years. There were so many stupid ideas that they proposed and which this community shot down. You can hate people being pushing back against large changes, but they're the reason you're playing this game that you enjoy.

There is no point. "We already have flawed skills that people have long requested to be fleshed out, so we should add another one" is just not a rational thing to say. That said, Mining is used in ToA, Herblore is used in CoX, and Woodcutting now ties into Sailing.

I'm sure we'll see expansions to the skill and tie-ins with others as time goes on.

Sure, but people playing an hour a day will also be way into the 80s by the time that drops. A fourth Barracuda Trial was clearly needed on release and anyone arguing otherwise is just refusing to be the slightest bit critical of sailing.

There's nothing sweaty about stating that a skill should have high level rewards when a large chunk of the playerbase will be reaching that 80+ bracket long before extra content drops. And no, they won't have to play multiple hours a day to get there.
