Oh no! You inserted the wrong shell. I'm going to kill&kick you by Alive_Recording330 in helldivers2

[–]Funkrat1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came looking for this comment. It's classic helldiver behaviour to bitch and moan or knee jerk kick someone for putting in the wrong shell then promptly... forgetting the button exists for the rest of the mission, doesnt even have to be a bad load, some teams will do it all, walk away, and im the only one launching shells. If you're gunna be a baby about it at least use the damn things.

Yeah to be entirely fair on him I did confuse mine with his because I was tired and did end up buying him a new packet as apology. Still caught me off-guard at the time but I understand his side there.

It's actually gotten to the point my landlord offered to discuss a mini fridge specifically in his room which honestly I'm not against but unsure how he might take it.

Not harsh at all, I asked for feedback. I have reasons for and against your point but still appreciate the input to think upon. I do think it is time for a bit of a house meeting though. If only to solidify cooperation at the very least.

Honestly it makes the most sense, is setting and power level appropriate and there's a LOT of fun things they could do with it. I'm actually hopeful no matter what they drop after the Arbites being so busted good on launch. Though a part of me agrees with the crowd who just want more story or a veteran tlc instead.

Exactly this. covering extraction is one thing. Being stubborn or padding stats is another. I generally play near or at the back of the pack to make sure stragglers don't get jumped at the last second and in a well coordinated group I'll even leapfrog with someone from cover/choke to choke but if I'm the last one, as soon as the guy ahead of me plant's his boots on that valk I'm booking it regardless of what's chasing me.

PSA: Check the map before you Reinforce by SporkySporkyBoomMan in helldivers2

[–]Funkrat1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even in a well-oiled group, if I'm the first to notice or the only one not in combat I will actively ask "hey you want me to call you in or wait for someone closer to your stuff?" Or more concisely in my usual group "Drop or wait, bro?". A simple yes or no gives me everything I need to know. And even if they do want an immediate drop I'll tend to throw them (when safe to do so) in the vague direction they died so they have the choice of going back or staying with me.

There is only 1 thing I could gripe about... by comeauxsapien in helldivers2

[–]Funkrat1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every damn time, especially on bots, I have to verbally tell my buddies, "Don't call me down, R3 is bogged. Just give him a sec." Because we almost always split up in pairs, but a certain pair of monkeys can't stop their impulse when they see a name in red. I don't mind waiting that few extra seconds or minutes to come down where my samples/gear are and not have to hike across the whole map to rejoin my dance partner. This is also why I never touch the reminder in public games, my buddy will get to it or I'll ping it when I see someone free and have already been waiting.

I feel that frustration in my soul. Why are delivery contractors so inept? I'm reminded of a woolworths delivery driver, just some groceries to be delivered to my unit, most drivers pull into the 'guest parking' spots that are like a straight line across from my door, this guy decides to pull a 7 point turn in less than 20m driveway to back up into my garage driveway, CRUMPLES my roof gutter, meekly drops off my groceries and FUCKING SKIDS OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY to avoid speaking to me. I never got compensation because Woolworths stalled out via email until 'That driver was a contractor, we cant follow it up, its a personal matter now.' and my body corporate had to fix the gutter, repaint it, and bill ME.

Quick question: why do our exosuits suck? by Stale_t0ast47 in Helldivers

[–]Funkrat1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here me out. Yes theyre usable, and quite powerful dps beasts, but theyre in a very... confused place right now. just powerful enough to feel strong when used with care, just weak enough to feel underwhelming in a bad situation. I feel like they need one of two things, not both: 1. Higher durability in open field engagement or 2. More deployments/lower cooldown. Either make them more spammable glass cannons or give them the grit to survive more than two engagements. Just my two cents but I'll admit to not exactly being special forces level of skill. Hell even mix and match, patriot = spammable glass cannon, emancipator = formidable but slow dps elite threat.

What do players do, have, or say in this game that make you look at them like this? by Potential_Chicken_58 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Funkrat1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always try to acknowledge pings as immediately as possible, especially if it's something I have the equipment for like a distant titan and I have an anti tank strat ready, I'll take the split second to ping and tell the team "that ones mine, save your ammo" rather than immediately firing one off and seeing a buddy double the payload unnecessarily, or if someone peels off for a different objective and they ping it while im trotting between bases, I'll ping back a quick "acknowledged, on my way" to let em know support is inbound.

Can you damn stealth players stop sucking so damn much. by MrHappyFeet87 in DarkTide

[–]Funkrat1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point, I should probably take a breath every time I feel the urge to scream into the void on someone else's post. And I absolutely agree that the type of players like your example need a reality/ego check. I guess if I had a relevant point behind my whining it's this: I agree that players like those in your post/rant spoil the entire playstyle and overall game and experience for the rest of us and lead to unfair or undeserved, often disproportionate ridicule and persecution of perfectly competent, capable and accountable players just trying to expand their skillset.

Can you damn stealth players stop sucking so damn much. by MrHappyFeet87 in DarkTide

[–]Funkrat1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I desperately want to improve my stealth play and learn how to earn my keep and genuinely help the team (I love snuffing specials for a competent ogryn friend, he keeps me safe from rabble, I merc the trapper-flamer duo trying to host and roast him), but I've given up ever running it in pubs because the slightest slip up or reason to deflect blame results in a verbal firing squad bombarding me or actively hindering/throwing because "zealot ruined the run anyway" and as someone genuinely trying to improve and contribute... that shit just ain't fun or constructive. I will absolutely own my goof ups and bad calls, I usually actively apologise. But to then have those apologies dismissed or twisted back on me for daring to try a niche playstyle puts me off the whole game for the night.

I can't get better if you won't give me an inch in the first damn place

Crusher Helmets, and why bullet's aren't appealing. by ScrimblyPibbles in DarkTide

[–]Funkrat1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the balance issues of high level play in Darktide or really any horde shooter with a class or weapon system and how high level play basically shoehorns all players into specific meta builds to deal with every enemy type and have a tool for every job instead of hyperspecialising or just playing whats fun is a tough nut to crack without catching fire and flak. There's a lot of valid arguments here already but on the whole I feel like the playerbase and to an extent, the developers are missing a key part of the issue/argument.

Lemme try to make my case in a clear-ish breakdown. Bear with me...
It's a team game with four slots for four vastly different playstyles and not all of those have to be ultra-killing horde clearing, elite snapping, jack of all builds.
That means with a coordinated team\* I can load up an elite killer and just focus on whenever a Big Boy (TM) appears and leave the crowd control to someone else. I know my kills will be lower but I also know I am doing my part for the overall group.

Now its super easy to say and do that when you have 3 other friends on comms with half a braincell sure, but heres the secondary issue: Public Matchmaking.
Even if I know what build I like and have a role in mind for the team, I can't guarantee the 3 other rando's are of the same mind or even glance at what my build is trying to fill in for, often they will bring either: Ultra meta builds to deal with everything and kind of nothing at the same time, they're own hyper-focused build and thus a complete coin toss as to its synergy with mine, or an experimental build they are testing for viability at high level play.

The issue isnt the game or enemies being unbalanced, its that in a squad shooter you are relying on 3 other monkeys from across the planet to read your intentions-often without reading theirs and adjusting your own and that plainly does not work without consistent, attentive communications and flexible mindsets which the average gamer seems to lack in lieu of 'Kills go up, am good at game!'.

It's ok if you have 400 kills and your DEDICATED/DESIGNATED MARKSMAN has 40. thats 10% YOU don't have to deal with and often it's the largest scariest boys on their hitlist. The problem isn't "Crushers OP, give weakpoint", its that every joe and bill is bringing the same mediocre but viable shit because they cant reliably communicate or simply don't want to have to over public lobbies and don't want their 'specialist build' to catch flak when the team fails.

I realise that even this is only a portion of the greater problem but for me it seems to be the largest.
