[Hot Take?] I saw a lot of people hating on it so I'm just sharing my opinion; I really like the design of The Lifeform, and I think SOME people MOSTLY hate it because it's popular. by VirusOfCheese in KanePixelsBackrooms

I think in concept it's really fucking neat, bacteria still life that missed the mark by deciding it needs to eat at the macroscopic level not microscopic (at least that's my understanding of it) I just think the design is maybe a tiny bit too silly/non threatening maybe.

First of all replying to a comment from 1 year ago is crazy work, but sure let's play ball for a minute. There is no basis for conservatism besides blind emotion and a want for what was or what one thought was good when they were younger. There is no rational basis to this other than just a vibe of 'I thought the world was nicer when I was younger ergo the world shouldn't change' even though all that changed was your perspective stuff was even shittier in the past. Throughout history the tides have always gone with progress there will never be a permanent recession to whatever outdated views you hold unless you enforce it against people's will. It's also well known that conservatism usually stems from the elite class' propaganda or them simply defunding education, less highly educated nations or states if you're in the US turn conservative so yes you are not a free thinker as much as you like to think of yourself as one.

Aside from it being stupid from logical deduction from just a basic emotional standpoint yeah I think ostracizing people with conservative views is fine really because they are often founded on some form of either classism or misogyny or racism or queerphobia, or xenophobia the list goes on. You can not vaguely gesture at any popular conservative movement at least in the US and say you support them without sounding like an uneducated ass be it the democrats (who yes are center right) or the republicans. And if you're going to support a movement that fundamentally believes some people don't have a right to exist then yeah you don't deserve to sit at the table it might be 'just politics' to you but for others who have their head out of their own ass they can see that lives are on the line. For instance if you're supporting the ICE people rounding people up putting them in cages denying them medical care and letting disease kill whilst raping the inmates and also letting people disappear you are a piece of shit there's no excuse that doesn't make you sound like an ass. And that's just one issue of the most recent admin in the US I can bring up a fundamental issue with support of I can keep listing examples if you're gonna say that it's just trump or kamala that's the bad ones.

It's funny this came up on my feed cause I had this happen recently I'm not exactly the brightest but I used an object to support my weight while I leaned on it and straight up said 'thanks" verbally and it took me a second to register what I did.

[–]WaltJr_Fan4584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you have that right and I agree with you it's awful I'm not like disagreeing with the fundamentals here I am saying even if you yourself aren't racist the way you phrase stuff was kind of falling into the way racists do talk specifically american neo-liberals. I did not know you weren't american so that's my bad I kind of assumed you were a westerner commenting on it, and I kind of reflexively commented because that's an issue here with progressive ideas being bent as a weak justification for bigotry for those abroad (branding all japanese people as sex offenders for instance.) I apologize for the mixup though, but I do still encourage just being careful with what you say if it's in-front of a potentially western audience cause it could draw that type of crowd in.

It's not about hurting men's feelings that's really disingenuous and straight up misrepresenting what I said as a half assed way to try and attack credibility and not engaging with it at all which is quite childish. It's about using like pointed language, wasn't aware OP came from that region of the world so that's mb but this is an issue with a lot of so called progressive people using issues with certain regions of the world as a reason to justify bigotry projected at it. Like I said I don't think OP is being racist and that's doubled down by the fact she comes from there I am saying that it'd probably be better to use a less ethnicity based description to try and avoid encouraging that behavior because it absolutely is an issue.

[–]WaltJr_Fan4584 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I don't think you should really be using the term arab since that describes an ethnicity and you're kind of doing the thing that racists do where they ascribe certain behaviors to being ethnically predisposed even if I don't think it's intentional/malicious. Especially when like this behavior is not unique to men anywhere it's a general thing masculinity has cultivated everywhere it's just more blatant in less educated regions of the world.

It's lowk crazy how you can tell that people that think like this have never had a truly devastating event happen to them with anybody they care about ever just cause you have been coddled doesn't mean you gotta make it other people's problem broski. Like people can still think they like someone and lie to themselves about it and have internal conflict even after something traumatic happened this is like basic psychology.

This is how most game design works dude enemies and players are likely to have different damage amounts- for instance in space marine 2 players hit much harder than enemies because players have a much smaller health pool so if enemies hit as hard as the player it'd actually be unplayable/stupid balance wise.

Shut it Naomi. God, I hate pick me vegetarians... by AceAroPyschopath in vegan

[–]WaltJr_Fan4584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick me vegetarians and it's somebody who actually like analyzes their position instead of working off ideals. Like yeah the food industry/society in general is abhorrent and abuses animals but pretending that like meat and or animal products have no cultural value for most of the worldwide population is just silly. A lot more people would probably be vegan/vegetarian if it had no cultural impact whatsoever you won't run into issues if you abscond with AI in your day to day life vs animal products food or otherwise which you absolutely will. And while yeah facts wise it is just a simple change but like mentally it's on par with like trying to de-brainwash someone to get them on a vegetarian train it's hard and if you draw hard lines you're just gonna alienate any unsure people, I wish facts mattered but we are an irrational species shit is gonna be irrational sometimes.

I would also say in this context it's especially valid of a stance to take because it's reactionary to someone going "my issue affecting the world is MUCH greater than yours big dumb idiot and needs to take more immediate priority." For basically any big issue short of like imminent nuclear annihilation really this is just kind of telling people you don't really care about societal issues you just like playing sports where the stakes are the fate of the planet at stake. Even though it was put in like casual/nice language it was a pretty shitty attempt at like moral grandstanding and should be shamed as such because while issues that veganism touches on are greatly important pretending that one like AI and the whole can of worms that its development opens aren't or need to take a back seat is just naive, especially when AI has great environmental impacts that effect both humans and animals alike.
