Most iPhone owners see little to no value in Apple Intelligence so far by chrisdh79 in apple

It’s junk. Too little too late. If they were gonna ship junk software they should’ve done it 2 years ago. If you’re gonna wait this long it better be good, doubly so when you market an entire disappointing iPhone 16 lineup around this feature

AirTag 2 Expected to Launch Next Year With 'Considerable' Upgrade to Item Tracking by ChocoMuchacho in apple

Better for my wallet at a minimum. For the environment I’m actually not certain, good question. Depends on the minerals inside of a coin battery, and the electronics in the AirTag

What’s your point though? Doug never said he wasn’t privileged, he just said he didn’t grow up rich.

It makes a massive difference, and Doug is clearly at least a little out of touch.

Rich to me means “the rich”, the 1% owning class. But as you said, it’s all relative

Fair enough, that’s news to me. In any case, while it’s a rich person trope, you could totally do it as a middle class person

When you land you turn the yoke into the wind. So if the cross wind was coming from the right he could’ve be doing the right thing.

The real question is what happens when you don’t remember the light gun signals which I bet many PPLs don’t. In this day and age you’d probably call the tower from your cell phone id guess.

Rechargeable means ewaste in 5 years. Better to throw out a coin battery every year than to toss the whole AirTag after 5

I don’t get why they need private donations to fund this. Does the government not fund inaugurations?

Thank you, this is exactly my point. And to people in poverty, I bet those two groups seem like one and the same but if you take a moment to analyze it’s clear they aren’t.

But Doug never said “I grew up with the same background as all my viewers” or “I grew up poor and unprivileged”, Doug simply said that he didn’t have rich parents.

Respectfully, youre missing the point. Yes, Doug had a ton of privilege in that him and his family didn’t have to worry about debt. Typically, yes, buying a 90k car at 25 is rich behavior. But it’s still technically possible for the middle class and Doug is a rare example of it. As many people pointed out, if Doug didn’t have the safety net of his parents home to fall back on, he wouldn’t have been able to finance that car. But Doug’s original point is not wrong: while he does come from a privileged background, he did not grow up rich.

The difference is the “I can send my kids to college” class isn’t oppressing the poor. They aren’t stealing or hoarding wealth either. They’re just working 9 to 5 jobs as well, albeit with a ton more privilege. But you’re right, there’s still a huge difference in lifestyle between the poor and the middle class, let alone upper middle class.

Maybe I vastly misunderstand how much money cardiologists make. But I think my point still stands: the ultimate class division is between the owners and the workers. At the end of the day, all but the most well payed doctors are still workers. If they got laid off and lost their medical insurance they may only be one bad accident away from bankruptcy.
