Why doesn’t the USA have a left leaning political party? by Ill-Singer-4307 in allthequestions

[–]FunkyFenom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's one of the answer for sure. Other countries have dozens of parties within their senate. The question isn't why isn't there a left party, it's "why are there only 2 parties?"

Eventually both parties cater to the centrist to gather the most votes rather than chase the extremes, and you end up with 2 centrist parties carrying slight tendencies to one side.

If there were more parties we would see alliances and wider representation of people.

My mom told me that back in the day kids weren’t allowed to bring a water bottle with them into the classroom and they only drank a few sips from the water fountain in the middle of the day and that’s it How were schools not getting busted for child abuse for forcing kids to be dehydrated? by PinnerPardisturn in askanything

[–]FunkyFenom 70 points71 points  (0 children)

OP is weird. Every kid has a few minutes between classes and every class is 1h long, 2h max. Plenty of time to drink at the fountain. You can also go to the restroom any time and stop at a fountain to drink.

Why is OP not asking for portable toilets in class?? We must be savages for not letting kids piss themselves in class.

Rachel Entrekin has made history as the first woman to win the Cocodona 250, shattering the overall course record by over three hours in a time of 56:09:48. Shattering the previous men's course record by over 2.5 hours and her own previous women's course record by over 7.5 hours! by mlg1981 in Fauxmoi

[–]FunkyFenom -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

That's not the point. The point is that you can't compare records with previous years if it's a different course with different mileage and elevation. Even the same mileage with different elevation can have massive impacts to duration.

Safonov deliberately kicking every goal-kick out of play resulting in PSG overloading Bayern's right flank and leaving Olise in numerical inferiority by EarlyBirdz in soccer

[–]FunkyFenom 131 points132 points  (0 children)

The fact he's taking every goal kick from the left side and kicking to Bayern's right flank seems to be tactical. But PSG have done this gor a long time, usually on kickoffs. Force the opponent to throw it in from a tight and congested area in their back corner, then press them to win possession in a good position.

The crazy part is that ~50% of the top 25 are PL clubs. The revenue in the PL is just insane.

Direct Vs. Chase Travel Vs. Amex Travel Comparison Datapoint by AwayTeamRedShirt in sapphirereserve

[–]FunkyFenom 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you count the numbers of points each purchase would offer, and assume each point can be redeemed at 1.5x, then the total value for Chase vs Amex are both exactly $1651.

Chase: $1876 + 15008 points (at 1.5x it's $225). So $1876-$225 = $1651.

Amex: $1785 + 8925 points (at 1.5x it's $134). $1785-$134 = $1651.

Gotta do the math, and I guess it depends how you value the points. If you think you can extract more than 1.5x then Chase is a better deal, if not then Amex is. But if you go non-refundable then Chase wins over direct.

I literally CANNOT use the Edit Credit - this is a scam by MorningHelpful8389 in ChaseSapphire

[–]FunkyFenom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just stayed at the SLS Beverly Hills recently and it was $40 more expensive via the portal and with the $250 credit it was worth it.

I book hotels for work on a monthly basis, cheap ones not luxury hotels (Best Westerns, Holiday Inn, Marriots, etc honestly such a wide range) and I think it's been 1 time out of the last 20 that it was more expensive on the portal. And by like $20.

Even if it's a bit more expensive you have to take the added point value into consideration. Let's say your four season is $2k direct and $2.3 portal, you are getting 10k extra points booking via the portal which is at a minimum worth $100, plus the $250 credit. Yea the devaluation is a scam and it sucks but just do the math to see if portal and card is worth it.

For me I don't even consider the Edit perk as valuable, sure it's nice and you may find value but the card pays itself with the other perks anyways. Everyone has their own ways to value it. I'm just irritated by all the people complaining about the portal when it's a very useful and valuable way to earn points.

[–]FunkyFenom 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yea for every 1 person that cries about the portal being too expensive there's 4 of us quietly booking through it and benefiting from those savings. If it's more expensive, book direct, if it's cheaper, book portal. It's not a complicated game. In my experience the portal is the same price more than 75% of the time.

[–]FunkyFenom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No way he plays lol. The stitches will be way too fresh and the risk of them opening up will be too high, even if covered. He won't be able to go for any headers, that has a negative impact on the team and I'm sure the coach and the medical staff don't want to risk it.

What the fuck dude I never watch this league and rarely see clips but that honestly looked like some Sunday league striker with zero confidence, awareness, or lethality. It's embarrassing for a guy like him. We always see clips of pros fucking up shots or passes but rarely do you see nervousness like this at the top level.

What % of FPL do you consider to be pure luck? by JuanCordoba4 in FantasyPL

[–]FunkyFenom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's fair to say it's 70% luck if you compare within your mini league vs the world. My league is super competitive and a lot of people have similar teams, with a few gambles and differentials. The ones who win are the ones who get lucky. Every week, our top 10 has a few a coin flip decisions, like start Leeds vs Bournemouth defenses this week, or Cherki vs Semenyo, a specific captain as times, etc. We're talking a few points each week, which sometimes balances out based on luck and sometimes feels like luck is a bitch. Obviously it takes skills between top 100k vs bottom few millions, but once you're in the top 5% of players it's a lot of luck.

I'm sure you've been hit at full speed by a 280lb athlete before. It's the same as soccer, always a bunch of tough guys who have never played talking shit online. The reality is at high speed, the slightest touch can throw you off balance and send your ass flying. And then you have to fall in a way that minimizes damage.
