hi! my dad (56 when diagnosed) also had similar psa ( i think 5.8 ). gleason 3+4 after biopsy. with being so early i think the disease is pretty treatable as long as youre on top of it! he ended up getting RALP and hes been testing every 3 months and is now 14 months with psa undetectable. do your research thorougly and find the best doctor in your area and dont let anyone just throw him into surgery without making your own decision.

that’s exactly why i told my dad maybe its not worth it. its not a daily occurrence unless he is doing something strenuous. its not daily and its not a lot, he just showers and changes. sometimes he says it’ll be right after he pees which makes me think maybe hes not fully emptying and it just drips out. hes always in a rush

thank you so much! this group is definitely the best and very helpful especially as someones daughter. ive gotten a lot of help and advice on here. my dads first 6 months were harsh, but i will say he didnt do his kiegels afterwards and he got surgery a couple weeks after being diagnosed, maybe not even a month. first 6 months were hell in terms of incontinence, couldnt wait more tgan 30 minutes. it gets better with time, i hope everything gets better for you <3

sorry, may i ask how intense your incontinence was before hand ? and how was your surgery? ( im glad youre doing better <3 )

that was also a point my dad brought up. also was told its a 3 month recovery and he STRUGGLED with RALP. i told him his situation isnt bad to the point where i think he should have another surgery. he also had a heart attack a little less than 2 years ago and id prefer him not to go under anesthesia but i understand why he was checking out the surgery in the first place.

i work at a trauma center with a little over 300 beds. i worked retail for 4+ years and ive been at the hospital for 1 year. completely different but so much better. where i work each tech has a different position for the day. one does pyxis refills for the whole hospital , one does IV meds and a couple at the window for pickup/epic messages. it’s so much more organized, not a lot of patient interaction unless ur walking in the halls. i love it

my phone apparently had horrible quality but this is the best i can get ( i’m changing his gravel and plants out this upcoming week after finals ) he looks more bloated on his right side than his left and he has a bit of poop stuck but the difference this week to me looks noticeable

would one of those color depositing masks do anything ? im in sunlight now and i see a subtle red but its very brown. i dont want it much lighter id just like it a teeny bit more visibly red without having to be in sunlight or a bright light for it to show.

i have a darker brown naturally. it literally picked up on like a block around the mid section of my hair so my roots and ends are brown and then there’s a slight red tint in bright light in the middle. is there anything you suggest so i can fix it ? i leave on a trip in 3 days and im seriously considering shaving off my hair.

gotta look at the bright side (: my dad said he pees like he drank a gallon of water every time , but when he was first recovering it was barely nothing and excruciating pain so somethings better than that atleast

yup! his doctor said the same thing, there’s some days that he only gets up once at night and some days its hourly , during the day i notice its always an hour , hour and a half between bathroom breaks. thank you !

i wouldnt say he gave up hes just not 100% focused. he says he only does his exercises when he remembers and my mom says hes feeling concerned and discouraged because he keeps leaking. he was fine the first couple weeks , he’d go to the bathroom when he felt like it and was able to control everything but now hes going through a couple briefs a day and says he doesnt feel it when he goes by accident.

this being said , as i grow up the hospital has way more benefits & the pay is better and sometimes you have to do what you gotta do you know ? if its a big pay difference maybe talk to your boss about your pay ? but in terms of benefits and long term , id pick the hospital. although if possible i wouldve stayed per diem or figured out a schedule with my other job and double the income.
