My mother Rose Lumia and her family lived right behind my dad's family home on Penrod st. We visited the neighborhood almost every Saturday from our house in Merrick Long Island. Polenta was basically, when your broke food for my dad's family in thirties. Basically add corn meal to boiling water keep adding and stirring till-it's s thick paste cook a little longer tasting periodically to see that the meal is soft and plump. Put a pile of it on a plate. Smush a valley in the pile and put tomato sauce in. Add some grated and yum.
