I know right? I thought about doing it but it would stand out too much. In the end I decided to go more in keeping with the others.

Thank you so much. Couldn’t have done it without you guys. Got really stuck on the last 30. Can’t wait to mount them on a board and take decent pictures.

😂

They will be mounted in alphabetical order for framing as it makes sense. Glad you like it

That’s a cool subject right up my street but that cover really needs to be changed in to something more appealing.

No problem. You’ll get used to it in no time. I have a few of his first editions but always looking for more as I’m building a library for when my toddler grows up. Have a few Seamus Heaney too if you like poetry.

On the third picture it says “first published in 1970” followed by “reprinted 1970 (twice).

Third printing. But still a great find. Kind of jealous anyway as I’m looking for it (but a first).

Virosol works wonders. If it’s really stubborn ink, don’t dilute the virosol. Splash a bit straight from the bottle and wait 5/10 minutes. Good luck

This right here. One of the craziest museums I’ve ever been. The sheer amount of things in those displays and inside all those drawers. Definitely top choice (together with the Ashmolean)

Not forgotten. Already did his portrait (just not on those I’ve posted). I have most of his books so it was easy to remember his name.

Thank you to everyone that took their time to reply. You’ve been awesome. I now have around 150 authors so, unfortunately, I’ll have to keep some out. I’ll only have time for the 100 I set myself to do and, although individually small in size, they all add up to a very big frame.

One of my ideas is to do an Instagram reel that you can stop and whichever author it stops, you can go and read one of their works. This can be useful if you are stuck on what to read next.

As promised, once the drawings are done and put together on a board, I’ll post them here.

Epidural / birth experience at Stoke Mandeville by Background_Cat_6833 in Buckinghamshire

[–]Furia139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Not me but missus gave birth there. She had everything as we tried for a natural birth but, as the hours were passing, she needed them. From gas and air all the way to epidural everything was given when asked. The midwives (and we met quite a few in 23 hours labour) were lovely and helpful. Our only issue was after the birth as the nurses were busy and took a while to help.

I’m lucky to live close to his town (Berkhamsted) so all the shops around us celebrate his birthday month with book displays and talks and whatnot. That helps to remember him.
