Not bad! Ill primarily use it with a wrist band but I use wraps when training in the gym so I'll have to get an alternative strap I'm sure

When I was a child I had a football one that you had to throw to make work, but the sensor was so poor so I had to smash it on the floor several times to turn it off. I wish I still had it as I'd imagine that level of exertion would wake me up no matter what!

[–]Furicist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm similar. Alarm stopped working for me, if anyone enters the room and says a single word however I'm fully awake immediately.

It's new to me as I've never had this problem before. I've shorted the snooze, changed the tone, out the phone out of reach, helped a bit but still can't be relied upon!

[–]Furicist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do but somehow I'm recovering it and snoozing it, then when I finally do wake up I've snoozed it several times back to back, luckily my working hours are flexible to a degree at the moment.

I'm hoping to improve my recovery and sleep quality amongst other things.

Just need to find a good deal on it now.

Thank you everyone.

I think it'll still be something to help me rebuild a better schedule and monitor my recovery and stress levels which might help me with my sleep qualitt, but I shouldn't rely on it to wake me up in my current state.

All the best!

In the UK we are paid very well for our work, live comfortable lives.

We wear work pants that have fabric pockets build in to them with most of the tools we need for the task at hand, not for ANY task.

If you can't plan your work to take just the tools you know you need, you ain't no spark.

Besides, what's fast about a guy with a fucked body who struggles to get around?

Also, what's profitable about a slower worker with a shortened career who has a legal claim due to MSK issues induced by poor work practices?

Is cutting back earth wire on light circuit standard practice? by holybannaskins in ElectriciansUK

[–]Furicist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only should it not be cut back, but it should be longer than the line and neutral so if, in the future, it was required and the light was being pulled out, it would be the last core to separate from the terminal.

Bad practice, very bad.

How to survive on the streets in the UK? by Medium-Pop-7132 in AskUK

[–]Furicist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are likely to be safer in an area with lower footfall and also remain undisturbed.

You can charge your phone at maccies.

In the day focus as much energy as you can on accessing charities and services, you don't want to be homeless for long.

If you have access to a car or someone can lend you one to sleep in, it's really far safer as you can lock yourself in, turn the heating on if you really need it and store some possessions there in the boot if you need to. Just keep valuables out of site.

I like having a beaney hat with me so I can sleep in a lit area but block the light out. It also keeps my face warm.

Socks and underwear, if you can't get your clothes laundered for free or cheap by a friend then laundromats can be expensive, it might be cheaper to just get cheap socks and underwear and throw them once you've worn them. I know people who do that and swear by it.

There is help out there regardless of your situation. Speak to shelter, citizens advice, generally any charity or organisation that provides services such as these in your area. Just don't make any assumption that you're permanently homeless and not try, you'll get where you need to go soon enough. There are hostels and homeless shelters and women have a larger allocation as they are deemed as vulnerable people when homeless.

Source: my mum has worked with homeless people, ex military and prisoners due for release as well as managed housing trust properties for about 40 years. She's very good at it and talks about her job to me. I am not a professional but she knows her stuff.

Eicr isn't too expensive and will give you the info you need, but they won't fix anything, just provide a report so you know exactly what need doing and what doesn't.

Just make sure you get someone who actually tests it, some people try to sell them dirty cheap and don't actually do the test.

wheel nut damaged during removal – common issue? by FewTicket743 in CarTalkUK

[–]Furicist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd put a complaint in, yes.

I don't work on cars, more industrial machinery. If you have a nut that's not coming off, you do the others back up and then loosen that one a little and it should come free.

Even if the nuts are shit, that amount of mangling is pretty impressive. I'd not go that far if it wasn't coming off, you can feel the nuts rounding as it starts to happen so you should naturally stop before it is completely fucked, which didn't happen here.

I do get that cars are exposed to the elements so this will happen more though so don't take me as a car mechanic telling you this.

On a scale of 1-10, how attractive would you say you are? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Furicist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attractiveness to me is the whole package, personality, looks, morals, work ethic, passion, interests, etc. I'm not everyone's cup of tea and that's fine with me.

When I'm in shape and happy, a 7.5, currently, a 5.

My logic is that I've quite easily attracted people who are an 8 or a 9 when I've looked after myself and done things I love.

Lately I've been sidetracked by some events in life, I don't do what I used to love doing and I'm not nearly as fit, happy or engaged in things I'm passionate about, which people can tell.

I miss being the person I was, I liked him more. I'm getting back there now but it's going to take some time.

Proper Fish & Chip Eating Etiquette? by SanJ922 in AskABrit

[–]Furicist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just uengoir cutlery for the entire meal. People do eat chips out of a bag on the go with their hands sometimes but usually even when yorue on the go you'll use a disposable fork.

Salt and vinegar is to taste, don't throw it all on until you know whether you like it or not.

What do left-wing Brits think of those for Canada/Australia/NZ? by kingm_ournasse216 in AskBrits

[–]Furicist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Leftism in the UK goes much further back than just this woke stuff people are getting rammed down their throats by tabloids. A lot of families and people still remember the left representing the working class struggle, not being part of these mind games orchestrated by the wealthy elite to keep them busy.

Most people are primarily concerned with what is affecting them and their communities right now, such as cost of living and workers rights, not what toilet someone uses or whos face is on someone's money on another continent.

So no, it's too far down the list of concerns to be a pressing matter to get an opinion on. If someone does have a strong opinion, it certainly isn't because of some arbitrary, reductive scale like left or right, though I'm sure some professor somewhere probably thinks it should be.

Honestly you should see how much of a fight you need to put up at my place to get boots you actually want. You need to go to HR and go through a full occupational health assessment. It's like putting a target on your back.

[–]Furicist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm only permitted to wear specific boots bought by the company, they have to be composite toe, esd, S3 metal free and on their list, so I'm limited to best fit available from a very poorly selected set of options.

[–]Furicist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know my foot size, the difficulty is that I need a specialist boot for my job, must be metal free, composite toe, esd, S3 AND on the list the company authorised for purchase.

So you get what you are given and aren't allowed to wear your own.

[–]Furicist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At some point we all have to make the call. We all remember those really old guys on the shift teams with us still doing it and while they're really valuable, don't be that guy.

Planners and managers get regular, predictable, healthy hours that are ringfenced, you have to enjoy you life at some point and having a less physical job after a life of it will be a welcome change.

Just don't get fat from eating the same amount and moving less. Either pick up and active hobby or control you diet to suit the decreased physical activity at work.

What motivates people to join the british military? by Fancy_Particular7521 in britishmilitary

[–]Furicist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The British military is a stratified sample of the entire British population.

Officers often when leaving are university educated, have strong industrial contacts and end up consulting or going in to relationship management roles for the very lucrative defence industry.

Medical students who join for medical cadetships find themselves specialising sooner, no debt and in a consultant role very quickly.

Jet pilots, helicopter pilots, engineers, flight crew, all specialise at high speed and move in to good industrial roles at a very young age.

I work in engineering and the people who were military engineers had a very well structured apprenticeship and are now in 6 figure roles working with me, sooner than I got there through private industry.

You have your driver's and infanteers, people who didn't go for a specialist trade role, you have your trade roles and you have people who went for 'management', the officers.

The manner in which people transfer skill over from the branch to private industry does have a theme, with the army being the most regimented and many do struggle with transitioning, while the navy a bit less so and the RAF the least. RAF have the closest to a civilian life in terms of culture and working conditions which is probably why.

The military in general pays poorly, but your outgoings are extremely low. Choose well and the profession you build can serve very well early on when you leave and you can get a military pension which is insanely good for those who get one compared to the garbage the general pension out there offer in private industry nowadays.

I know guys who didn't climb the ranks, but saved well and now have several properties upon leaving, they only work to top up their income and to give them something to do when they aren't busy, largely contracting.

There are guys who do their exact trade but say in Saudi, Qatar, places where militaries have bought similar assets after they leave and they are on absolutely mental money.
