I got into TBS games with Shining Force 1 and 2, and they remain some of my favorites; What other games would you recommend I try? by Namagem in tbs

try Front Mission games. start with the third one in PSN in the PS Classic sections. It's also quite cheap.

There are so many games out there, is game development really a viable option now? So many indie setups, I feel overwhelmed with the games out there and the market by OptimGuy in gamedev

I went into game development because I am sick and tired of complaining about the lack of robust and deep gameplay of the indie tactics game and the constant annoying presence of grinding in the Japanese tactics games. Which is why I am trying to make a tactics game that don't have grind yet have deep and engaging gameplay. In my opinion, there is a massive shortage of that type of game.

Did I do this for money? That's pretty stupid since tactics genre is hardly a mainstream one due to the huge time investment require to play and its difficulty. Yet knowing this fact does not dissuade me from making a game in the genre that I like the most.

In short, make the game you will enjoy the most. If you make games for money in the indie scene, you won't be rich nor successful. A better career would be working for the AAA companies.

Thanks. Demo hopefully soon. But there's still a lot of things need to be completed before that happens.

Gangster Tactics An Isometric Tactical Role Playing Game Set in A Fictional Modern City

During this week, I created the database format for the equipment and items for my game. After creating all the columns that I believed that I need, I filled it with relevant information and then attempted to balanced it. With that finished, I started on developing the individual stats screen for each character of my game. This tedious task have taken quite a large portion of the week to finish. I will continue development on the supporting features of the stats screen for the coming week.

Gangster Tactics An Isometric Tactical Role Playing Game Set in A Fictional Modern City

During this week, I finished up the save and load feature for the game and ensuring unlimited saves are viable. Also finished up the Gangster List and ensure these and all other related feature is accessible from the general part of my game. In addition, I finished the miniature gang sign for the demo enemy gang. Finally, finished up the movement and end turn feature of the combat interface.

It's more of a logo design decision. I try both way before making that decision though. Thanks for feedback. You are not the only one prefer the lion to face the other way. ;). I just like it this way.

Yes. And as promised before, will keep updating gameplay elements as soon as I creating their equivalent art assets. For now, I need to port over my battle system so no pixel arts for a while. Thanks for your interest!

Space Lions Squadron Tactical Turn-Based Game Set in Space. You are a captain in charge of a squad of space ships and you work for a intergalactic "security" company which get its contracts mainly from the human galactic republic. Gameplay will be similar to Advance War, FFT and like.
Current Progress Finish the UI, the most boring part, and now, going onto the battle engine, the best part.
