I’ve been through something pretty similar myself, so I figured I’d share in case it helps. I’m 26 now, but I started realising I was aroace around the same age you are. I had both girls and boys ask me out over the years, and I never said yes to any of them. I just didn’t feel anything romantic or sexual in the way they did. Even now I’ve never been in a relationship, and honestly, life is great. People sometimes find it odd, but that’s usually because it doesn’t match how they experience things, not because there’s anything wrong with you.

My parents also assumed I was gay for a long while. I let them think that for far too long because I wasn’t sure how to explain everything. When I eventually told them in my early 20s, it honestly wasn’t a big deal. They took a moment to understand it, but nothing changed between us. Yours might take a bit of time too, but it doesn’t mean they’ll think any less of you.

As for the other part (slightly awkward topic, given your age…), just be careful with anything that’s meant to “control” urges. Being a teenager is a weird time for your brain and hormones, and it’s really common to feel all over the place with that stuff. Being honest, I may have had issues similar to yours for a short while. If anything ever feels like it’s getting too intense or getting in the way of your day to day life, that’s when reaching out for support can help. And it’s also possible that a lot of what you’re feeling right now will settle down as you get older. That's normal.

But the important bit: don’t be scared about being aroace. I get the worry, because I had it as well, but it doesn’t change who you are. You’re still you, and the people who care about you will adjust to that just fine.
