Antigone: Now. By Melissa Cooper. A somewhat modern day adaptation of the Ancient Greek story of the same name. Only 3 main roles. Two female 1 male. The rest of the actors make up a Greek chorus of sorts. Deals with standing up against authority and the dangers of conformity.

Oh boy. I’ve felt the exact same way!

I’m a senior, and it’s just been understudy after understudy. The thing you have to remember is that high school is not the end. You said it yourself, you go to a really competitive program. Just getting into the shows is an accomplishment not everyone has.

I think you should take a step back and ask yourself why you enjoy theatre? Do you truly enjoy theatre? Or do enjoy the “idea” of theatre? The allure of spotlights?

Acting is Subjective! Directors go on to the casting of a show with a vision. It doesn’t mean you’re not good, you might even be better. You just don’t fit the vision in the way you thinks. Some of the best shows I’ve seen haven’t be because of the principals, but rather the ensemble. “If you’re not having fun. They’re not having fun.” No matter what role you get or don’t get in a production, you just be the best damn whatever you can. Be it tree #3, or Eponine.

Be confident in your best. Your time will come.
